Genesis10 is currently seeking a Data Analyst / BI Developer (Power BI) - Remote position with a Global Medical Technology Company located in Virtual, MN. This is a contract opportunity. 100% Remote.

Compensation Range: $50.00 - 65.00 per hour, W2

The Data Analyst / BI Developer will support the R&D function by developing, enhancing, and sustaining Power BI reporting solutions that improve visibility, decision-making, and execution. This role's primary focus is Power BI development, with adjacent skills in SQL/Snowflake, Git, and the Power Platform used to support scalable delivery, collaboration, and automation. This role works independently with general supervision on moderately complex projects within a product/team operating model.

Responsibilities:

  • Publish and maintain Power BI dashboards, reports, and semantic models supporting a wide range of R&D and adjacent business processes
  • Standardize KPI and metric definitions in partnership with stakeholders; document definitions and ensure consistent implementation across reporting assets
  • Develop and maintain core semantic data models (e.g., shared datasets) serving multiple stakeholders and business domains; apply best practices for star schema / dimensional modeling
  • Build and optimize DAX measures and Power Query (M) transformations; apply repeatable patterns to improve maintainability and reduce rework
  • Improve report and dataflow performance (e.g., refresh time, query latency), reduce manual reporting effort, and enhance reliability through troubleshooting and tuning
  • Support workspace/app refresh monitoring, troubleshooting, and production support activities
  • Interface primarily with Process Excellence Reporting & Analytics team members on technical and report development tasks
  • May work directly with domain SMEs to define metrics, validate results, and resolve data issues
  • Act as a curious, self-starting learner who engages the broader data analyst community to understand data availability and access
  • Participate in collaborative development practices, including basic version control and peer review workflows

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree with 2 years of job-related experience OR Master's degree with 0 years of job-related experience
  • 2 years of data modeling (e.g., Git, branching, SQL, Snowflake, etc) and Power BI development experience

Desired skills:

  • Demonstrated experience working in a medical device environment
  • Demonstrated experience working in a regulated environment
  • Experience partnering with stakeholders to translate requirements into analytics deliverables
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and adapt to changes in technology, processes, or requirements
  • Solid collaboration and communication skills; ability to take direction and manage tasks in a backlog/sprint context
  • Proven ability to multi-task and shift priorities effectively and expediently
  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal skills
  • Power BI / BI Engineering: Demonstrated experience applying star schema / dimensional modeling, knowledge of report publishing/maintenance practices, familiarity with RLS concepts, and basic performance tuning experience
  • Intermediate SQL / Snowflake: Familiarity with CTEs and window functions, experience with curated views/tables for BI consumption, and experience writing data validation queries
  • Microsoft Power Platform: Experience with Power Automate for workflows and Power Apps for data capture
  • SharePoint Lists familiarity
