Job Description

The Students Training in Academia, Health and Research (STAHR) Partnership Project is a grant-funded collaboration between the UMKC Schools of Dentistry, Medicine and Pharmacy and the UMKC Institute of Human Development. The goal of the program is to increase the number of students from educationally and/or economically disadvantaged backgrounds who are prepared to enter, persist in, and graduate from a health professional degree program at UMKC. STAHR achieves this goal through structured pipeline programs focused on providing health education, academic preparation, professional development, career planning, and mentorship to its participants. Our programs support pre-health high school and college students and current UMKC health professional students.

This position will serve as a member of the grant leadership team which includes the STAHR Admin Team and representatives from the Schools of Dentistry, Medicine and Pharmacy, and the Institute of Human Development. This position will report to the Program Director.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to the Program Manager and Program Director by executing the day-to-day activities for all STAHR Programs;
  • Record and maintain program attendance, outcomes and evaluation data;
  • Oversee communications for the STAHR Program for all constituents, including but not limited to students, faculty & staff, health professional schools, community organizations, and UMKC and its affiliates. In addition, periodically update the program's website;
  • Assist with program recruitment for high school and collegiate level students, which includes targeted outreach initiatives at local high schools, college institutions and community organizations;
  • Assist with day-to-day supervision of student employees, including STAHR graduate assistants;
  • Create and deliver educational presentations/activities;
  • Provide support to other pipeline initiatives in the School of Medicine, such as the Saturday Academy Program;
  • Adhere to grant expectations, policies and procedures, etc.; resolve issues that may arise; recommend and execute initiatives and strategies;
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Position includes limited travel, some weekend and evening work.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and 1 year of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2 + years of experience in related field or industry
  • Experience in project or grant management, program planning and implementation.
  • Experience in higher education, business, non-profit or community programs.
  • Understanding or direct experience with health professions programs.
  • Experience working with disadvantaged populations.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Anticipated Hiring Range

The anticipated hiring range for this position has been established as $18.87 - $21.00 per hour

Salary is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the individual's particular combination of education, skills, and experience, as well as organizational requirements.
