Responsibilities

The General Manager (GM) serves as the senior leader responsible for the overall performance, strategic direction, and operational delivery of an assigned MV Transportation location. This role ensures that contractual obligations are met, service quality consistently exceeds client expectations, and organizational standards are upheld across all functional areas. The GM sets the tone for safety, operational excellence, employee engagement, and financial stewardship while cultivating a strong partnership with the contracting agency and community stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic & Operational Leadership

    Provide executive oversight of all service delivery functions, establishing performance goals, standards, and longrange operational plans.
  • Direct daytoday operations to ensure reliable, compliant, and customerfocused transportation services.
  • Lead crossdepartmental coordination, ensuring maintenance, safety, scheduling, dispatch, and training programs operate cohesively and efficiently.

Client & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Serve as the primary liaison with the contracting agency, proactively addressing issues, opportunities, and service outcomes.
  • Represent MV Transportation in community, agency, and partner meetings, promoting a collaborative working relationship.

People Leadership & Organizational Development

  • Build and develop a strong leadership team by selecting, coaching, and evaluating managers and frontline supervisors.
  • Direct oversight and supervision of departments leaders across all functional areas, including but not limited to call center, operations, maintenance, safety and finance.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, employee recognition, and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee labor relations activities, including union interactions, contract adherence, and dispute resolution.

Safety, Compliance & Quality Assurance

  • Champion a safetyfirst environment and ensure compliance with all DOT, FTA, contractual, and internal policies.
  • Monitor and evaluate training programs, audits, and incident trends to guide corrective actions and riskreduction strategies.

Financial & Performance Management

  • Develop and manage the annual operating budget, ensuring financial priorities align with service goals.
  • Review key performance metrics and operational reports on a routine basis, implementing datadriven strategies to optimize performance.
  • Ensure timely reporting, variance analysis, and action planning to maintain financial and operational health.

Continuous Improvement & Innovation

  • Identify opportunities to enhance service reliability, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
  • Lead initiatives aimed at modernizing processes, upgrading technology usage, and improving organizational capabilities.


Qualifications

Talent Requirements:

  • College degree or equivalent business management experience.
  • Management experience required.
  • Must have a minimum of (5) five years of comprehensive experience in operations management and a combination of (7) seven years of management or supervisory experience in a transit environment with knowledge of Trapeze scheduling software.
  • Must have labor/union(s) negations/expenses expertise.
  • Must have a full understanding of dispatch, scheduling, driver recruitment, and safety DOT and FTA compliance.
  • MS Office, strong analytical skills, strong written and verbal communication skills and high degree of multi-tasking skills.
  • Additional duties/responsibilities based upon individual contract requirements.

Starting Salary Range: $170,000 - $200,000

Other Compensation: $1,000.00 Driver referral bonus ($500.00 upon training completion and $500.00 upon completion of probationary period); $1,000.00 Mechanic referral bonus ($500.00 upon training completion and $500.00 upon completion of probationary period)
