Job Summary
The Machinist 3 is responsible for setting up and operating CNC lathes and milling machines to produce precision metal components in a production environment. This role requires strong blueprint reading skills, experience with precision measurement tools, and the ability to maintain strict quality standards. The machinist will work independently while supporting team-based manufacturing goals in a fast-paced setting.

Job Responsibilities



  • Set up and operate CNC lathes and milling machines to manufacture precision parts
  • Interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications to determine machining processes
  • Select appropriate tooling, machine settings, feeds, and speeds
  • Perform in-process and final inspections using calipers, micrometers, and gauges
  • Deburr finished parts and ensure conformance to quality standards
  • Monitor machining operations and make adjustments as needed
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
  • Perform basic equipment maintenance to ensure optimal performance
  • Support continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives
  • Collaborate with team members to resolve production and quality issues


Job Requirements



  • Minimum 5 years of CNC machining experience in a production environment
  • Hands-on experience with CNC setup and operation (not operator-only)
  • Experience working with both CNC lathes and mills preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
  • Proficiency using precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, gauges)
  • Knowledge of feeds, speeds, and machining adjustments
  • Basic computer skills for work instructions and time tracking
  • Strong attention to detail and quality control


Education



  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Formal apprenticeship or technical training in machining preferred


Work Experience



  • 5+ years of CNC machining experience required
  • 8-10 years of experience with lathes and mills preferred
