Job Summary
The Entry-Level Data Center Technician role is designed for candidates with foundational experience or exposure in mechanical, construction, or hands-on trade environments who are seeking to begin a career in data center infrastructure. This position supports the installation, maintenance, and organization of structured cabling and equipment within critical data center environments. The role provides hands-on training in fiber and copper cabling, equipment installation, and infrastructure buildouts while adhering to established safety and quality standards. This is a direct hire opportunity that includes structured training and mentorship to support long-term career growth in the telecom and low-voltage industry.

Job Responsibilities




  • Perform structured cabling installations, including copper and fiber rough-in work.



  • Dress, label, and organize cabling systems according to industry standards.



  • Terminate copper and fiber cables following specifications and quality requirements.



  • Rack, stack, and secure equipment within server cabinets.



  • Build out server racks and follow rack elevation plans.



  • Install fiber trays, ladder racks, cabinets, and related infrastructure components.



  • Complete infrastructure installations such as cable management systems, power trays, and ladder racks.



  • Receive materials and assemble hardware required for installations.



  • Support Outside Plant (OSP) activities by routing fiber into the data center.



  • Read, interpret, and follow blueprints, drawings, and installation documentation.



  • Communicate professionally with team members and leadership using clear verbal and written communication.



  • Follow all safety guidelines, including proper use of PPE, maintaining a clean jobsite, and complying with OSHA standards.




Job Requirements




  • High School Diploma or GED equivalency.



  • Entry-level candidates encouraged to apply, particularly those with mechanical, construction, or trade-related backgrounds.



  • Prior experience in construction, electrical, mechanical, HVAC, or similar hands-on environments preferred.



  • 0-2 years of experience in a data center, construction, or technical environment preferred but not required.



  • OSHA 10 certification preferred or willingness to obtain.



  • Ability to work on ladders and scissor lifts, in confined spaces, and remain on feet for the duration of the shift.



  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and move up to 75 pounds as needed.



  • Familiarity with basic hand tools such as screwdrivers, tape measures, snips, pliers, punch down tools, and tool pouches.



  • Required to wear appropriate work boots (steel toe or composite toe) and gloves.

Additional Job Details (Commute, Attendance, etc.)




  • Extensive overtime, including weekends, may be required.



  • Work schedules may start later in the morning, typically between 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m., to accommodate coordination with other trades.



  • Shifts may extend up to 16 hours, with occasional work continuing until 2:00 a.m. or 3:00 a.m.



  • Candidates must be flexible and willing to adapt to variable and extended work hours.
