Library Associate (PLC1/2A)

This is a biweekly temporary P&S position to be filled for 12 months. The ideal start date is June 1, 2026 through May 31, 2027. This position does not include the University's full employee benefit program.

Reporting to the Director of the Engineering and Sciences Libraries, the position will assist with daily operations and outreach activities between the two libraries. Provide assistance to library users in need of directional, basic reference, circulation, or technology assistance, including referral to an appropriate expert on campus or within the libraries. The role will require evening shifts and may require adjusting work hours outside of the regular schedule.

Specific Responsibilities:

* Support the two libraries' day to day operations. When needed, work at the various service desk and monitors work of student employees. A basic understanding of all elements of circulation services is essential including familiarity with the circulation programs such as ALMA/PRIMO

* Provide reference services answering the questions of library users and assisting library staff as needed.

* Assist in staffing and preparation of outreach and education activities.

* Assist in the process and preparation of materials within the libraries to send to offsite storage as need to maximize shelf space.

* Assist with special projects as needed, including researching and writing up histories using library archive materials, and preparing exhibits and collections for highlighting and marketing purposes.

Required Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and experience, plus one year of related experience in libraries, focus on public service.

* Demonstrated ability to work on all aspects of circulation services including familiarity with the circulation programs such as ALMA/PRIMO.

* Demonstrate effective communication and public service skills

* Demonstrated ability to work creatively in a rapidly changing environment.

* Demonstrated ability to work productively and sensitively with library and university colleagues, faculty, students, researchers, and donors.

* Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment where consultation, flexibility, collaboration and cooperation are essential.

Desired Qualifications

* Demonstrated knowledge of engineering and science information and resources

* Experience working in science and/or engineering libraries.

* Demonstrated experience w/marketing and outreach of resources, events, and activities.
