Job Summary UFP Industries is seeking a Retail Plant Manager to lead operations at our ProWood plant in Saginaw, Texas. This role is responsible for the overall performance, safety, quality, productivity, and financial success of the facility. The Retail Plant Manager will lead production, yard, shipping, and maintenance operations while ensuring the plant runs safely, efficiently, and in alignment with UFP's standards and business goals. This role works under the general direction of the Regional Director of Operations or Director of Operations. Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Lead and manage overall plant operations to meet goals for safety, quality, cost, productivity, profitability, and customer service. Ensure all plant assets, equipment, inventory, and materials are properly managed, maintained, and safeguarded. Staff, coach, develop, and support the production management team, including performance management and corrective action when needed. Develop, review, and approve master production and shipping schedules to ensure customer needs are met and plant resources are used effectively. Coordinate production activities across shifts, departments, and support functions to maintain efficient workflow. Analyze plant performance, production output, yields, scrap, labor utilization, and product flow; identify opportunities for improvement and take corrective action as needed. Establish and maintain quality standards for plant operations while leading quality improvement initiatives. Ensure the plant is properly staffed to meet production requirements, business needs, and service expectations. Oversee accurate production data entry and reporting within company systems. Manage raw materials, work-in-process, finished goods, and inventory levels in partnership with management; coordinate inventory requirements and month-end inventory processes. Ensure the yard is organized, safe, efficient, and maintained according to company standards. Review expenses, P&L statements, budgets, and other financial and business documents; take action to support financial performance and operational goals. Assist in developing recommendations for capital expenditures and facility improvements. Provide leadership and oversight for Maintenance Department activities to support equipment reliability and uptime. Ensure compliance with company HR policies and procedures as well as applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations. Participate as an active member of the plant Safety Committee and ensure all operations align with company safety standards, OSHA requirements, and safe work practices. Prepare operational, financial, production, safety, and other reports as required. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum of two years of experience as a Production Manager, Operations Manager, Plant Manager, or equivalent leadership role required. Experience in manufacturing, building products, lumber, treating, distribution, or related industrial operations preferred. Knowledge of UFP Industries' organization, culture, systems, and product lines preferred. Strong leadership skills with the ability to coach, develop, and hold teams accountable. Ability to manage plant performance through safety, quality, productivity, cost control, and continuous improvement. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook. Forklift operator certification required. Working knowledge of shipping operations and truck capacities preferred. Strong communication, problem-solving, planning, and decision-making skills.
