Overview

Illinois CancerCare is seeking a friendly, detail-oriented Pre-Services Coordinator (formerly called New Patient Intake Specialist) to join our Peoria clinic team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing the intake process from referral to registration, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and outstanding customer service.

Responsibilities

What You'll Do

* Receive and process referrals via phone or fax from referring providers, primary care offices, or ILCC hospital teams.

* Verify insurance coverage, demographics, and clinical information.

* Complete intake and forward referrals to New Patient Scheduling.

* Obtain benefit verifications and enter information into billing systems.

* Secure required payer authorizations for new and existing patients.

* Identify indigent patients or potential reimbursement concerns and communicate with Financial Counselors and Payer Relations.

* Preregister patients prior to appointments.

* Maintain and monitor Missing PCP reports.

* Assist with insurance changes and support Patient Registration during overflow.

* Crosstrain and provide coverage for New Patient Registration and CheckIn Reception as needed.

* Build and maintain positive working relationships across ILCC specialty clinics and referring providers.


Qualifications

What We're Looking For

* High school diploma or GED (required)

* Experience in a medical office setting preferred

* Familiarity with medical terminology and EMR systems

* Strong customer service and communication skills

* Ability to multitask and remain calm in a fast-paced environment
