Job Summary

The Engineering Technician II supports the Structural Test team within the Launch Systems organization by assisting in the build, execution, and teardown of structural static load tests for launch vehicle programs. This hands-on role is based in a test bay environment and involves working closely with engineers and fellow technicians to develop and execute hardware testing activities. The position requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work safely and effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic engineering environment.

Job Responsibilities



  • Support structural test operations by building, assembling, testing, and documenting launch vehicle hardware.
  • Assist in the setup, execution, and teardown of structural static load tests in a test bay environment.
  • Work collaboratively with engineers and technicians to develop and implement test setups and fixtures.
  • Interpret and work from engineering drawings, schematics, and work packages to complete assigned tasks.
  • Perform hands-on mechanical work, including assembly and handling of small components and large structural hardware.
  • Use hand tools and basic fabrication equipment to support test preparation and execution.
  • Record and document test data accurately in accordance with engineering and quality standards.
  • Assist in maintaining safety compliance and adherence to environmental health and safety requirements.
  • Respond to changing test conditions and priorities in a dynamic work environment.
  • Support troubleshooting and problem-solving during test setup and execution.
  • Assist with mechanical fixture design and improvements as needed.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.


Job Requirements



  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of additional education and/or relevant technical experience.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience using tools and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and work packages.
  • Experience working in a test, manufacturing, or aerospace environment preferred.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 50 lbs and handling large structural components.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • US citizenship required.
  • Positive attitude with a collaborative, team-oriented approach.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.


Education



  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Additional technical education or training preferred.


Work Experience



  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant technical or mechanical experience required (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Experience in aerospace, manufacturing, or mechanical test environments preferred.
