Job description
Job Title: Data Warehouse Analyst Job Location: Tallahassee, FL (on-site) Job Duration: Contract through June + extension Job Tasks and Activities: The Data Warehouse Analysts support the full lifecycle of data warehouse operations by gathering business requirements, designing and developing data warehouse structures, and performing data mining activities. The position ensures the accuracy and quality of warehouse data through validation and cleansing, and collaborates with users to define reporting needs and provide technical guidance. The position develops prototypes, conducts testing, and evaluates solutions for alignment with business objectives. The role manages Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) processes, maintains data models, supports technical tools and environments, and applies strong knowledge of Relational Database Management System (RDBMS) and front?end analytical tools. Continuous process improvement and adherence to best practices in data modeling, metadata management, and warehouse operations are essential aspects of the role. Business Information Analysis and Requirements Gathering
- Engage with business stakeholders to understand, gather, and assess information needs;
- Translate business requirements into detailed system specifications that support data warehouse architecture and reporting needs.
Data Warehouse Development and Data Mining
- Perform analysis, development, and evaluation of data mining activities in a data warehouse environment;
- Contribute to data design, database architecture, metadata creation, and repository structures to ensure scalable and efficient data environments.
Data Validation and Quality Assurance
- Review, analyze, and validate data loaded into the data warehouse to ensure accuracy, consistency, and completeness;
- Conduct data quality checks and resolve data discrepancies through cleansing and refinement activities.
User Interaction and Reporting Support
- Collaborate with business users to understand reporting requirements and provide technical consulting;
- Advise users on correct data usage, highlight potential conflicts, and recommend best practices for accessing and interpreting warehouse data.
Prototyping, Testing, and Solution Evaluation
- Develop prototypes to validate design approaches;
- Prepare test scripts, perform functional and system testing, and evaluate solutions for alignment with requirements;
- Identify and resolve gaps in proposed solutions.
Data Integration and ETL Processes
- Support data replication, extraction, transformation, and loading ETL processes;
- Ensure data flows are efficient, scalable, and properly documented; and
- Maintain data models that support enterprise-wide warehouse and data mart structures.
Technical Tooling and Environment Support
- Maintain a strong working knowledge of software tools, scripts, languages, and shells used within the data warehouse environment;
- Support operations across various operating systems and platforms.
Process Improvement and Best Practices
- Continuously evaluate data warehouse processes and recommend improvements;
- Apply best practices in data modeling, metadata management, documentation, and warehouse operations to enhance organizational data capabilities.
Required Experience:
- A minimum of three (3) years of relevant technical or business work experience;
- Strong skills in analyzing and documenting technical processes, mapping out business processes, identifying bottlenecks, and analyzing inefficiencies;
- Experience with data mapping, data modeling, and data integration between systems;
- Experience with Microsoft Visio and ability to demonstrate proficiency;
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Experience:
- Familiarity with business process mapping and defining current state applications in requirements documentation;
- Experience facilitating sessions with business leadership, Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), and users within a business function; and
- Skilled in understanding web applications and common application approaches to support business capabilities.
