FSB is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Manager in Oklahoma City, OK / OKC, to lead a team of mechanical engineers, MEP designers, and HVAC design professionals while supporting the delivery of complex, multidisciplinary architecture and engineering, building systems, mission critical, aviation, civic, commercial, and federal projects. This role blends technical leadership, team professional development and mentorship, and both production oversight and direct production assistance to ensure projects are delivered in alignment with scope, schedule, budget, and quality expectations. - Lead and oversee a team of three to five mechanical engineers and designers across multiple MEP, HVAC, plumbing, building systems, and mission critical projects, ensuring work is planned, coordinated, and aligned with scope, schedule, budget, and quality expectations.
- Plan, assign, and manage team workload and production efforts, translating project requirements into clear work plans that align with scope, schedule, and staffing capacity
- Provide hands-on technical leadership in mechanical system design, HVAC design, plumbing coordination, building automation, code compliance, constructability, and interdisciplinary coordination.
- Oversee preparation, coordination, and review of construction documents, Revit models, specifications, engineering calculations, QA/QC reviews, and construction administration deliverables.
- Serve as a subject matter expert in mechanical systems, constructability, and code compliance, supporting informed decision-making across projects
- Drive continuous improvement of mechanical engineering standards, Revit workflows, BIM coordination practices, QA/QC processes, training materials, and production tools.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and develop team members through ongoing feedback, mentorship, and formal performance evaluations, supporting both technical growth and professional development
- Monitor team performance, workload, and utilization, identifying gaps, risks, or inefficiencies and communicating proactively with leadership
- Support staffing and workforce planning efforts, including recruiting, interviewing, and onboarding, to build and retain a strong team
- Ensure accountability across the team by setting clear expectations, tracking progress, and addressing performance or delivery challenges
- Align team effort with project scope, schedule, and budget, contributing to accurate planning, forecasting, and overall project performance
- Foster a culture of clear communication, collaboration, and continuous improvement while reinforcing firm QA/QC standards and the professional standard of care
Required Skills
- Ability to lead technical discussions and present mechanical design solutions to clients, consultants, and regulatory authorities
- Strong collaboration with Project Managers to align production efforts with project scope, schedule, budget, and client expectations
- Demonstrated experience leading mechanical engineering teams, MEP design teams, consulting engineering production, workload planning, staff development, mentoring, resource planning, and project delivery.
- Advanced technical expertise in HVAC systems, plumbing systems, mechanical building systems, building codes, ASHRAE standards, construction documentation, constructability reviews, and multidisciplinary coordination.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to balance multiple simultaneous projects, priorities, and deadlines
- Proficiency in Revit, BIM coordination, Microsoft Office, engineering specifications, QA/QC processes, and construction administration.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- Professional Engineer / PE license required
- Minimum of 7 years of mechanical engineering experience with progressive leadership responsibilities, including at least 5 years of consulting engineering design experience
