Vaco is hiring for agrowing organization is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Financial Controller to join its finance team. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Financial Planning & Analysis (VP of FP&A), the Financial Controller plays a critical role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements, and supporting the company's financial objectives. This position is key to driving financial health, operational efficiency, and profitability across the organization. Core Focus

The Financial Controller is responsible for overseeing and enhancing financial reporting processes, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and managing day-to-day financial operations. This role requires a strong leader with deep accounting and financial management experience who can deliver timely insights to support decision-making and promote sustainable growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare and support the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
  • Data Integrity: Review financial data regularly to ensure accuracy and consistency across accounting functions.
  • Policies & Internal Controls: Develop, implement, and maintain financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguard assets and improve operational effectiveness.
  • Variance Analysis: Perform detailed variance analysis and provide actionable insights to optimize costs and improve financial performance.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting: Support the annual budgeting process and ongoing financial forecasting.
  • Accounts Payable & Receivable: Oversee AP/AR functions, ensuring timely processing of invoices, payments, and collections.
  • Audit Coordination: Partner with external auditors during audits, ensuring readiness and compliance with accounting standards.
  • Tax Compliance: Assist with tax planning, compliance, and preparation of required filings.
  • Management Reporting: Deliver financial reports and strategic analysis to senior leadership to support decision-making.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Stay current on accounting standards and regulatory changes, ensuring ongoing compliance.
  • Special Projects: Participate in system implementations, financial analysis, and operational improvement initiatives.
  • Inventory Control: Monitor and maintain accurate inventory tracking and valuation processes.
  • Operational Reporting: Analyze operational performance metrics, including production costs and efficiency.
  • Vendor & Billing Reconciliation: Review vendor invoices, ensure accurate billing, and perform reconciliations.
  • Journal Entries: Prepare and review journal entries and maintain accurate general ledger records.
  • Investor & Lender Reporting: Prepare financial reporting packages and analysis for lenders and investors, including MD&A.
Skills & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred
  • Experience in accounting or finance roles, preferably in operational or project-based industries
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting/ERP systems
  • Understanding of internal controls and compliance frameworks
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience in variance analysis
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • High attention to detail and accuracy

Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco/Highspring depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual's skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs.
