POSITION SPECIFICS

The Office of the Bursar is seeking a motivated individual to fill a full-time position as the Accountant Senior Supervisor - Military Billing Team. This individual will be responsible for the leadership, supervision, reporting, project planning, and financial analysis for the Military Billing Team.

The responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Supervise the day-to-day operations for the Military Billing Team and processes payments for military-sponsored students
  • Ensure accurate contract setup, invoicing, payment posting, and reconciliation for all military affiliated accounts
  • Reconcile third-party receivable General Ledger account(s)
  • Maintain and ensure compliance with military funding, with includes working closely with the Office of Veterans Programs and Penn State's School Certifying Officials (SCOs)
  • Supervise the Military Billing Team, which includes hiring, training, and evaluating staff to ensure outstanding customer service and compliance with university policies at all levels of the organization

The successful candidate for this position will have:

  • Strong accounting skills with a focus on accurate reconciliation and the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies in complex account transactions
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to address unique situations and concerns in daily interactions with various Penn State offices, outside agencies, parents/families, and students
  • Ability to analyze financial data, identify discrepancies and implement effective solutions
  • Excellent problem-solving skills to plan, organize, delegate, and direct work objectives, priorities, and deadlines
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite applications including advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel with the ability to interpret and analyze data
  • A high level of professionalism and the ability to meet specific deadlines and demonstrate the ability to work both independently and as part of a team and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Experience leading and managing teams/employees
  • Experience with ERP systems (eg. PeopleSoft, Flywire, etc.) preferred
  • Experience with student and business systems/software is highly desirable
  • Experience with military education benefits is highly desirable

This position offers a flexible work arrangement that combines remote and on-campus work. Questions related to flexible work should be directed to the hiring manager during the interview process.

MINIMUM EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree 6+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted Required Certifications: None

Employment with the University will require successful completion of background check(s) in accordance with University policies. Due to the financial and fiduciary responsibilities of this position, successful completion of a credit history check will be required in addition to standard background checks. SALARY & BENEFITS

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades, is $68,200.00 - $102,300.00.
