The Value Creation Reporting and Partnership team is responsible for reporting and alignment of clinical affordability value and performance for our executive leadership and lines of business. Our team reports on the full lifecycle of value delivery, including opportunity analytics, pre-deployment estimation, and post-deployment monitoring, and enterprise return on clinical investment. Our team supports the foundational cadence of ensuring continuous visibility to the progression of financial performance against annual targets through frequent and recurring updates.

As the Director of Clinical Affordability, you will be responsible for collaboration across multiple teams to advance overall reporting of clinical affordability performance, while ensuring integrity of all upstream reporting and data through regular collaboration with multiple finance and operations teams.

The ideal candidate will bring expert executive presentation skills, a passion for innovation, and an ability to tell our strategic story through financial performance, while navigating a complex matrixed organization and demonstrating a proven track record of translating financial insights into actionable strategies for leadership.

You'll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week.

Primary Responsibilities:

Planning, Reporting and Analytics

  • Preparation of Affordability outlook executive summaries for Clinical Affordability EVP for use in monthly forums with UHC C-Suite Leadership (CEOs, CFOs, CMOs) as well as annual business plans
  • Tracks progress against affordability and value plans, identifying deviations from expectations and driving steps to ensure accountability for complete and accurate reporting while remediating reporting inconsistencies
  • Prepares ad hic Clinical Affordability outlook summaries for internal customers and partners
  • Partners with Clinical Affordability program, Healthcare Economics and Finance teams to analyze and ensure integrity in year-over-year gross and incremental affordability performance reporting for use in C-Suite level updates
  • Efficient planning, organization, prioritization of recurring while demonstrating flexibility to meet other business/reporting needs on ad hoc basis
  • Continuous cultivation of solid business relationships
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support implementation of clinical affordability programs, ensuring alignment with financial teams

Innovation & Ideation

  • Collaborate with clinical, financial and actuarial teams to co-create centralized reporting of pre-deployment program estimates and post-deployment program results
  • Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement across the affordability ecosystem

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Serve as a key advisor to senior Value Creation leadership on affordability progress and performance
  • Representing the Value Creation organization in internal forums
  • Communicate financial performance of complex strategies and outcomes to internal stakeholders with clarity and impact

Required Qualifications:

  • 7+ years in financial reporting, financial planning or financial partnership roles with the ability to connect financial outcomes to overall business performance
  • 5+ years developing presentations for executive audiences
  • Demonstrated success working as an individual contributor that also collaborates to achieve team objectives and key results
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain strategic relationships in a matrix organization in pursuit of common goals
  • Proven ability to deal with ambiguity - can cope with change, can shift gears comfortably, comfortably handles risk and uncertainty in a manner consistent with UnitedHealth Group's core values
  • Proven solid analytical skills; ability to quickly interpret information and draw conclusions

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of healthcare or related industry experience
  • UnitedHealth Group experience
  • Proven ability to work independently and effectively in a results-oriented, fast-paced environment
  • Proven ability to synthesize complex information to inform decision-making
  • Proven excellent communication skills; ability to independently produce written communication for executive leaders

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). No matter where or when you begin a career with us, you'll find a far-reaching choice of benefits and incentives. The salary for this role will range from $134,600 to $230,800 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
