Fortress Nutrition is actively hiring for an experienced Packaging Line Operators to work in our Dry Powder/Blending department on 1^st shift! Standard Schedule: 1st Shift (6:00am-2:30pm, Monday-Friday); OT and weekends as needed Compensation: $22.00+ (based on experience) This position requires the ability to work in a dusty and wet work environment, with exposure to food allergens (ex. dairy, soy, etc.), loose dry powder/dust, and a wet work environment Job Summary: Working as part of the Powder Operations team and under the supervision of the Production Supervisor, the Packaging Line Operator is responsible for operating all packaging equipment to support production while working on a team to complete orders efficiently and effectively, according to client specifications following Food Safety and Quality requirements. What You'll Do: Setup, operate and maintain all packaging equipment, including but not limited to: filler, sealer, x-ray, metal detector, scale and coder. Make adjustments to equipment as needed to ensure products and packaging meet proper specifications. Perform all quality checks required for food safety standards, including but not limited to: overall visual bag inspection, seal integrity, coding, weight details, etc. Complete quality documentation (MMRs) as required before, throughout and after production following Good Documentation Practices (GDPs) and in real-time. Adhere to safe work practices, follow GMPs and maintain sanitary conditions to ensure that product quality is maintained at all times. Communicate all production related concerns and matters to the Production Supervisor or Lead in a timely manner for resolution. Perform all other duties as assigned by leadership. What We're Looking For: Required Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED equivalent Must be able to work in an environment with exposure to food allergens (ex. dairy, soy, etc.) and wet work environment Ability to successfully complete standard shop math basics Must be able to proficiently read, write, and communicate in English Reliability, punctuality, strong sense of urgency, and ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team Ability to work overtime and weekends as required based on production/business needs Preferred Qualifications Previous experience working in a manufacturing industry on/around packaging equipment is strongly preferred Previous experience working in a food, dietary supplement, or pharmaceutical manufacturing facility strongly desired Previous experience with, and understanding of, food safety and quality programs (such as GMPs, food safety, hand washing, cross-contamination, allergens, etc.) Physical Requirements: Frequently required to stand; walk; talk or hear; reach above shoulders; use hands to finger, handle, grasp, pinch or touch objects, controls, tools or equipment; kneel, crouch and use foot/feet to operate machinery; bend at the waist; climb or balance Frequently required to lift, carry, move, push or pull materials, product or equipment up to 50 pounds Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time, up to eight (8) or more hours in a single shift Ability to work on a mezzanine work station or a scissor lift, up to 20 feet high Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds frequently, in a dusty work environment (facility is climate controlled, employee can wear additional PPE such as a dust mask if interested, but it is not mandated).
