The University of Arizona's Information Technology Services (UITS) invites you to apply for the role of Network Engineer II.
This position supports the University of Arizona Global Campus (UAGC). Reporting to the Infrastructure Manager of IT, the Network Engineer II will work strategically with other senior engineering team members to ensure that the core network services are maintained at the highest level to achieve optimal performance and to ensure the University can grow seamlessly from an IT infrastructure perspective. This is a hybrid position. The incumbent will be required to travel occasionally to sites in Chandler, AZ, Phoenix, AZ, and Tucson, AZ. This position requires occasional evening and weekend work to support technology rollouts and maintenance activities, participation in an after-hours on-call rotation approximately every four weeks, and the ability to lift up to 25 pounds. | Duties & Responsibilities |
- Diagnoses
and resolves network issues and provide technical support to end-users, faculty and staff. - Supports
the planning and implementation of network upgrades, expansions, and collaborates with IT teams to ensure smooth integration. - Helps
monitor, troubleshoot, and maintain network (both LAN and WAN) devices, and uses remote monitoring tools. - Maintains
documentation of network configurations, changes, troubleshooting procedures, and participates in shaping network-related policies and procedures. - Implementation, configuration, and administration Cisco Nexus 7K, 5K, and 2K series switches.
- Implementation, configuration, and administration Cisco Catalyst 6500, 4500, 3800, 3700, series layer 2/3 switches.
- Data Center and Office network architecture maintenance and administration.
- Manage MPLS WAN network (using BGP and EIGRP routing) and associated Cisco components and devices.
- Manage, installation and administration of enterprise wireless networks.
- Maintenance of QOS.
- Manage and maintain corporate Internet access and associated firewall systems.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong knowledge of SNMP based Network Monitoring tools.
- Knowledge of network hardware, software, and virtualization.
- Knowledge of Wi-Fi hardware and software.
- Knowledge of firewall hardware.
- Knowledge of load balancer hardware and software.
- Knowledge of Cisco hardware, software, and virtualization.
- Knowledge of Meraki Wi-Fi hardware and software.
- Knowledge of F5 hardware and software.
- Knowledge of Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL).

| Minimum Qualifications |
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
- Minimum of three (3) years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

| Preferred Qualifications |
- Experience with AWS networking, cloud networking, and security.
- Experience with enterprise change control and the required documentation.
- Experience performing root-cause analysis.
- Experience in a high-growth, fast-paced environment.
- Experience designing, implementing, and managing corporate enterprise networks.
- Experience managing enterprise infrastructure in a tier 1 data center environment.
- Experience with Microsoft network services such as DNS, WINS & DHCP.

| Notice of Availability of the Annual Security and Fire Safety Report |
In compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act), each year the University of Arizona releases an Annual Security Report (ASR) for each of the University's campuses. These reports disclose information including Clery crime statistics for the previous three calendar years and policies, procedures, and programs the University uses to keep students and employees safe, including how to report crimes or other emergencies and resources for crime victims. As a campus with residential housing facilities, the Main Campus ASR also includes a combined Annual Fire Safety report with information on fire statistics and fire safety systems, policies, and procedures.
