Farnsworth Group is seeking a Structural Bridge Engineering Intern - Summer 2026 in the posting location below. In this role, qualified candidates will have an opportunity to work with a team of experienced Structural and Geostructural Engineers on a variety of bridge/building related projects.

Posting Location: St. Louis, MO; Belleville, Normal, Champaign, or Lisle, IL

What You'll Do:


  • Perform structural analysis of bridge and infrastructure project elements
  • Develop load calculations and structural design computations for project components
  • Prepare organized, detailed structural calculations and technical documentation
  • Design and draft structural elements, details, and connection designs
  • Develop plans and specifications using MicroStation software
  • Work under the guidance of Project Managers and Project Engineers
  • Participate in coordination meetings with multidisciplinary project teams
  • Assist with field inspection and condition assessment of bridge and building structures.


What You'll Need:


  • Pursuing a Bachelor's degree from an ABET accredited Civil Engineering program, with a concentration in structural engineering.
  • Computer proficiency with Word and Excel
  • MicroStation and/or AutoCAD experience preferred
  • Understanding of structural engineering principles, building codes, and design standards
  • Valid Driver's License

Salary Range: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, as well as internal and external equity)
