Description

Must be available to work evenings, weekends, occasional holidays.

Schedule: Wednesday - Saturday, 4:00pm -10:00pm. Schedule may very slightly depending on facility events and needs.

Position Summary:

A Safety Coordinator with The Salvation Army is charged with maintaining a safe environment for all employees, clients, and visitors to the Kroc Center Coeur d'Alene. The position provides a visual security presence to ensure that members and guests have a safe and pleasant experience while visiting the Center. Position will also be responsible for facility monitoring during hours of operation as well as when closed. Candidate will also assist with emergency response procedures as required.

Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Will spend portion of every day on the floor interacting and building rapport with visitors and staff.


  • Conduct hourly rounds to monitor facility activity. Report problems to the operations leads. Also check stairwells, fire exits, mechanical room, and fire extinguishers and pull boxes.


  • A key responsibility will be to engage and support staff in constant vigilance for safety of visitors, staff and facilities at peak afternoon times.
  • Be familiar with and understand the Center's Emergency Action Plan and evacuation procedures and carry out emergency procedures as necessary
  • Ensure that the RJKCCC facility is safe for all people at all times.
  • Intervene as needed in disputes in a calm, professional manner.
  • Generate and report accurate incident and injury reports in accordance to protocol and submit to appropriate entities within policy timeline in collaboration with department heads.
  • Collaborate with management to review incident reports and assist in developing follow up plans to improve processes and incident responses.
  • Ensure that all injuries are reported to liability insurer within acceptable timeframe.
  • Respond promptly to all safety issues.
  • Participate in special event planning to address safety/security issues.
  • Ability to flex hours when called upon for theater performances or special events needing security coverage.
  • Become a member of the safety and security team. Attend monthly meetings and provide updated information regarding all safety and security concerns.
  • Assist operations team with closing duties as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.



General Qualifications and Proficiencies:



  • High school diploma or GED equivalency.
  • Five years of experience in a significant security role.
  • Demonstrated ability to work without supervision.
  • Ability to work with children, parents and staff in a capacity of leadership and education.
  • Ability to reason and problem solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential material with professionalism and integrity.
  • Ability to balance multiple tasks at once.
  • Must be willing to work a varied shift (nights, weekends, etc.)
  • Able to work with all ethnic and socio-economic populations.



Physical Requirements:



  • Ability to kneel, squat, bend, lift, climb, stand, walk and run on an intermittent or continuous basis.
  • Ability to grasp, push and pull objects and reach overhead.


  • Ability to lift and carry 40 lbs.
