To participate in a remote work arrangement, employees must reside in the United States. No remote work arrangement will be considered for working from outside the United States.

Reporting to the Program or Department Chair, the Externship/Internship Specialist provides success support functions for students who want or need to secure internship and/or externships. This role will assist students and the program's Chair in the facilitation of partnership documentation including, but not limited to, student and affiliation agreements and contracts based on the programmatic requirements and Herzing's procedures. This role supports the Medical Assisting Program.

REQUIREMENTS:



  • An Associate's degree, or equivalent work experience, Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 3 years' of programmatic or related experience.
  • Certified Medical Assistant.


Compensation is determined based on the qualifications, experience, and circumstances of each hire. It is uncommon for new employees to start near the top of the salary range. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including a tuition waiver and reimbursement program, health insurance, paid time off, and a retirement savings plan. The salary range for this position is $48,651 to $65,822

RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Staff Duties

    • Assist students with identification of appropriate partnership sites.
    • Serve as primary contact with partnership staff to facilitate and manage documentation including, but not limited to, affiliation agreements between Herzing University and partnership sites.
    • Maintain pertinent documentation in Canvas, Nexus, and other relevant online platforms.


  • Student Advocacy

    • Seek Chair approval for each student's partnership location.
    • Maintain consistent contact with students pertinent to partnership facilitation.
    • Communicate with students the status and progress of partnership documentation.


  • Service

    • Administrative:
    • Adhere to and publicly support academic policies and procedures including, but not limited to, the Herzing University employee handbook and catalog.
    • Report any university-related issues to the program's Chair.
    • Professional:
    • Actively participate in campus and university activities.
    • Attend regularly scheduled university and program meetings as well as academic in-service workshops.
    • Attend meetings and classes on time.
    • Cooperate with all faculty and staff.
    • Adapt to scheduling needs.
    • Externship and/or Internship Facilitation (based on programmatic requirements)
    • Create and maintain inter partnership policies in accordance with university and program accreditation standards.
    • Create, support, and maintain appropriate partnership placements:
    • Coordinate contracts consistent with Herzing University policies,
    • Coordinate appropriate partnership placements for students, and,
    • Build positive relationships with partnership agencies.


  • Scholarship

    • Professional and Personal Development:
    • Complete degrees or certifications appropriate to the program supported.
    • Remain current in the industry through:
    • Regular interaction with industry professionals through national organization membership, state membership, or other structured contact,
    • Participation in professional associations and societies,
    • Participation in professional conferences.
