Genesis10 is currently seeking a Senior Full Stack Developer for a contract position with a Major Financial Institution located in McLean, VA. This is a contract opportunity through December 31, 2026. Summary: This role involves professional software development with a strong focus on backend technologies. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with Java and/or Python, building and consuming RESTful APIs, and working with relational databases. This position requires strong communication skills to explain technical concepts to varied audiences. Requirements: Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field (or equivalent experience) 7-10 years of professional software development experience Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to varied audiences Strong proficiency in Java (8+) and/or Python Solid understanding of core language concepts such as I/O collections/data structures, and concurrency/multithreading/asynchronous patterns Strong experience building and consuming RESTful APIs Experience with backend frameworks such as: Java: Spring Core, Spring MVC, Spring Boot, Spring Security, Spring Data Python: Flask/FastAPI/Django (or equivalent), ORM usage, authentication/security patterns Proficiency with build and test tooling (as applicable): Maven/Gradle, JUnit/Mockito, pytest/unittest; CI-friendly testing practices Strong database skills with RDBMS (e.g., MS SQL) and data modeling Ability to write advanced SQL for reporting, troubleshooting, and data analysis Experience working with structured and semi-structured data formats: XML/XSD and JSON Working knowledge of Docker in the development process Understanding of application lifecycle management and SDLC best practices Experience using CI/CD pipelines and tools such as JIRA and Jenkins to build and deploy applications Basic working knowledge of HTML, JavaScript, and CSS to support integration and troubleshooting Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills Flexible and adaptable; able to work across projects and learn new technologies quickly Desired Skills: Experience with streaming/event technologies such as Kafka Python exposure for automation and/or AI/ML integration Familiarity with AI/ML integration patterns (e.g., calling model endpoints, evaluation, deployment) Exposure to MCP (Model Context Protocol) for AI-enabled integrations/tools Pay Rate Range: up to $90.95 per hour If you have the described qualifications and are interested in this exciting opportunity, please apply!
