Business Control Specialist

Genesis10 is currently seeking a Business Control Specialist for a hybrid position (3 days onsite per week) with a Global Financial Institution located in Jersey City, NJ. This is a 12+ month contract opportunity.

This role involves partnering with and supporting teams within the Global Markets Operations Line of Business and senior leaders to proactively identify, validate, prioritize, and mitigate risks. The specialist will work to improve controls and maintain a focus on operational excellence, providing independent oversight and assessment of the risk environment in line with the enterprise Risk Framework.

Responsibilities:

• Partner and support teams within the Global Markets Operations Line of Business and senior leaders to proactively identify, validate, prioritize and mitigate risks, improve controls and maintain a focus on operational excellence and sustainable solutions
• Demonstrate, monitor and manage the effectiveness and adequacy of the risk and control environment
• Provide independent oversight and assessment of their risk environment
• Support the formal documentation and presentation of reportable and non-reportable operational issues and events, monitoring throughout their life cycle to completion
• Ensure compliance with critical deadlines for risk identification, escalation and remediation
• Interact with the Global Markets Ops team to support, provide guidance and insight on potential risk and control issues
• Support the engagement and management of internal audits and reviews between LOB teams and internal stakeholders

Requirements:

• Minimum 5 years of experience, preferably in Global Markets Operations and/or Risk and Control, Compliance or Audit
• Experience managing risk items working in the line of business
• Individual contributor with a strong control mindset with the ability to support and challenge the status quo independently
• Strong problem-solving skills, critical thinking and creativity to influence and support issues and concerns
• Excellent organization skills with ability to multi-task risk issues and reprioritize with ease
• Strong and impactful communication skills (written and verbal) to engage with all levels of management and stakeholders
• Understanding of a risk framework and the ability to apply it to operational processes
• Strong collaboration skills to partner with peers and LOB teams
• Proficiency with PowerPoint and Excel for executive level reporting skills
• Background in Markets Operations and/or Risk

Pay range: $32.56 - $40.56 per hour
