Direct/Indirect Material Coordinator

As an integral part of the team, position supports plant operations with all purchasing functions, ensuring continuous availability of materials and supplies while minimizing inventory carrying costs.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and manage the flow of inbound materials ensuring raw material forecasts align with production requirements.
• Maintain pricing, deliveries, and inventory data.
• Compile records of items purchased or transferred between plants.
• Place purchase orders/requisitions for all direct and indirect materials for plant operations.
• Monitor open purchase orders to ensure timely receipt and completion.
  
  
  
  • Track and expedite orders and investigate order problems as required.
  • Notify management when orders are anticipated to be delayed or incomplete.
  
  
  
  
• Complete required documentation for the addition of new vendors for submission to Corporate Procurement.
• Establish appropriate inventory levels of direct/indirect material based on demand, re-supply or delivery lead time, storage capacities, cost of stock, and any other applicable factors.
• In conjunction with Finance, execute monthly and annual physical inventories.
• Manage Costs - Identify opportunities to improve processes and reduce costs related to raw and indirect materials.
• Support an optimized production environment by applying the principles of Lean Manufacturing and 5S.

• Participate in special projects.

• Perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in business related area or equivalent required.
• Minimum 2-3 years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience in pulling data and report creation in an ERP computer system preferred.
