Labor
This position will perform a variety of tasks included but not limited to: Perform loading and unloading materials, moving furniture, equipment and supplies; cleaning indoor and/or outdoor areas; removing debris and refuse from worksites; hauling, carrying, holding and lifting materials and equipment, warehouse work; may operate tools such jack hammer, air hammers and drills, blowers, shovel, pick, broom and aggregate rake; and cleaning and maintaining tools, equipment and campus environment. May drive a truck or other vehicles.

Minimum Qualifications:
Move and transport waste containers
Clean and sweep waste collection rooms
Move and transport recycling
Use electric and fuel powered high pressure washers and blowers
Move and deliver supplies and other misc. pieces of equipment.
Unload supply deliveries
Knowledge of building interiors and exterior finishes and materials to understand cleaning and maintenance requirements.
Knowledge of the correct application of proper equipment, tools or material to perform labor tasks.
Skill to effectively operate pressure washing equipment that creates high heat and noise.
Skill to operate a variety of electrical and battery powered floor machines effectively to accomplish projects.
Skill to operate both automatic and standard transmission University vehicles in a safe manner.
Working knowledge of green cleaning supplies and protocols.
Demonstrated technical skill, experience and knowledge of custodial equipment, cleaning techniques and preventive maintenance.

Organizational skills to meet department needs and deadlines.
Ability to understand and work within an environment which supports sustainable operations and practices.
Flexibility to have assignments changed on a day-to-day basis.
Skill to safely perform basic cleaning tasks.
Interpersonal skills to work effectively with and provide excellent customer service to a diverse population; communication skills to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.

Repetitive tasks and lift/carry objects weighing up to 50lbs.
Stoop, bend, walk, crawl, push, pull, stand, reach overhead, and/or climb ladders for interrupted periods of time.

Must complete mandatory training within 15 days of hire date.
A valid CA Driver's license may be required.
Participation in the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Pull Notice System may be required.
Must be available to work variable shifts: days/hours (weekends, holidays, overtime, etc.) and float to other units/areas/buildings.
Perform tasks that require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes/boots, protective clothing and gloves, fume hoods, glove boxes, wearing long pants, etc.
Personally responsible for following safety procedures and guidelines.
May work around loud noise, dust, tight confined areas, etc.
May work with or be in areas where hazardous materials and/or infectious diseases are present.
May work occasional overtime to meet operational deadlines.
