Overview

This role is at Spirit AeroSystems, Inc. a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company, supporting Spirit's Commercial Business Units ("Spirit Commercial"). Spirit Commercial designs and builds commercial aerostructures, including for Boeing Commercial Airplanes, one of Boeing's three business units and the premier manufacturer of commercial jetliners for decades. Spirit Commercial's core products include fuselages, pylons, nacelles and wing components, with a focus on innovative composite and aluminum manufacturing solutions.


Responsibilities

The Plumber Apprenticeship Technician is a state registered, four-year training program consisting of both formal education and on the job training. Successful candidates will enter a Joint Partnership program between the International Association of Machinists Union (IAM) and the Boeing Company. This program will include both on the job training at Boeing Company, as well as full participation in a WSU Technical College. Upon successful completion of this Apprenticeship program, the candidate will be qualified for the Plumber Technician M26 position. To complete the program an apprentice must have 8000 hours in the program as specified in the state registered apprenticeship boiler plate.

The Company will provide appropriate assistance in job training to enable employees to safely perform all necessary job functions.

  • Attend the formal education training center and follow all applicable guidelines.
  • When school is not in session, the apprentice will report to Boeing and work in the designated area. For the first 4000 hours, the apprentice will work with an M26 Plumber Technician.
  • After formal education is complete and the apprentice has exceeded 4000 hours, he/she will complete the rest of their training working under the guidance of an M26 Plumber Technician.

Associated Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain, operate, repair, build and rebuild plant infrastructure and systems pertaining to it.
  • To assist all other crafts/trades in the maintenance and construction of plant equipment within the Boeing Wichita facility.
  • Assist in layout, construct, install, modify, repair, and maintain all commercial and industrial plumbing systems including heating water, drainage, air, steam, paint, water, and gas.
  • Fabricate and repair all types of hoses including vacuum, chemical, pneumatic, hydraulic, steam, paint, gas (all types), and water.
  • Ensure compliance with current specifications and regulations.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • All applicants must be willing and able to work any shift.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary Pay Range: $21.46/hour, with potential to earn up to $41.14/hour in accordance with the terms of the relevant collective bargaining agreement.
