What Work You Will be Responsible For:

  • Own the Purview operating model, including scan schedules, data source onboarding, collections, classification rules, and metadata standards to ensure scalable, high-quality coverage across governed data domains.

  • Drive adoption of the data catalog, business glossary, lineage, and stewardship practices within Purview to improve enterprise data discoverability, traceability, and controlled reuse across AI use cases.

  • Partner with AI, data engineering, and business stakeholders to review datasets entering Azure Data Lakes, document critical data flows, and establish appropriate governance, access, retention, and acceptable-use requirements.

  • Establish and monitor data governance controls for AI-related datasets, including data classification, sensitive data handling, access reviews, retention alignment, and policy enforcement.

  • Define and oversee data quality, completeness, and readiness expectations for datasets used in AI development, testing, and deployment workflows.

  • Lead AI lifecycle governance activities, including intake reviews, risk assessments, issue prioritization, remediation tracking, and decision support for AI systems and data use cases.

  • Oversee monitoring for privacy, regulatory, and policy compliance, including GDPR, CCPA, and internal data usage requirements, for data leveraged in AI applications.

  • Identify, escalate, and drive resolution of data risk issues such as sensitive data exposure, missing metadata, improper access, or unapproved data use across AI workflows.

  • Develop governance dashboards, scan coverage metrics, control effectiveness measures, and executive-ready reporting for leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.

  • Lead cross-functional governance forums, working sessions, training, and audit readiness efforts with Legal, Risk, Compliance, Privacy, IT, and business teams related to AI data use and Purview controls.

  • Stay current on Microsoft Purview capabilities, Azure data governance practices, and emerging AI governance standards, and translate those developments into practical roadmap recommendations and program enhancements.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Strong leadership, program management, documentation, and communication skills, with the ability to influence technical and non-technical stakeholders and translate complex governance concepts into clear business actions.

  • Experience in professional services environments such as accounting, consulting, audit, tax, or advisory.

  • Hands-on experience leading Microsoft Purview implementations or enhancements across scans, collections, classifications, glossary, lineage, and governance processes.

  • Experience with Azure Data Lake Storage, storage accounts, SQL-based data sources, or related cloud data environments in a complex enterprise setting.

  • Working knowledge of AI governance, data governance, privacy, responsible AI, or model risk frameworks and how to operationalize them.
