The Staff Quality Engineer (QE) serves as a senior technical leader, responsible for driving product quality, enhancing manufacturing process capability, and ensuring robust quality systems and control throughout the fab. The work will directly support the wafer fabrication operation that produces Compound Semiconductor RF and mobile communication devices including HBT, BiFET, and BiHEMT technologies. This role partners closely with Operations, Engineering, and other groups to reduce defectivity, improve yield, and ensure compliance with customer and industry expectations (e.g., ISO 9001, IATF 16949, automotive, or other applicable standards). The Staff QE leads highimpact quality initiatives, owns complex problem-solving efforts using advanced statistical and engineering methodologies, and drives a datadriven approach to continuous improvement across the fab. This position will be on-site in Newbury Park, CA supporting Wafer fab in Woburn, MA.

Responsibilities

Quality Systems & Compliance




  • Maintain and improve the site Quality Management System (QMS) to meet ISO, regulatory, and customer-specific requirements.
  • Lead internal audits, support external audits, and ensure closure of findings.

    • Develop, implement, and optimize quality procedures, work instructions, and documentation.


  • Monitor key quality metrics including defectivity, yield, excursions, scrap, and customer complaints.
  • Lead cross-functional root-cause analysis using tools like 8D, DMAIC, 5-Why, or Fishbone.
  • Drive longterm corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) with measurable improvements.
  • Product transfer qualification experience.

Required Experience and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Physics, or related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in semiconductor manufacturing, wafer fab operations, yield engineering, or quality engineering.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex RCA and implement sustained corrective actions.
  • Proficiency with statistical software and fab data systems (JMP, or Minitab).
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills across multiple levels.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fastpaced, highvolume manufacturing environment.
  • Working knowledge and hands-on experience with SPC, MSA, FMEA, APQP, PPAP, Process Control Plan, and 8D problem-solving methodology.
  • Results-oriented, self-driven, and goal-driven.
  • Ability to travel domestically (about 20% of the time).

Desired Experience and Skills

  • Solid understanding and working knowledge of ISO9001, IATF 16949, VDA6.3 and VDA6.5 standards.
  • ASQ certified Quality Engineer or ASQ Six Sigma green or black belt certifications preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of semiconductor process flow and interactions (Front-End, Back-End, or both).


The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is currently USD $114,400 - $220,200 per year. Starting base pay will depend on relevant experience and skills, training and education, business needs, market demands, the ultimate job duties and requirements, and work location.
