Accountant Position Purpose

Responsible for various Accounting Department functions, including sales tax filings, fixed assets, and maintenance and reconciliation of various general ledger accounts.

Accountant Essential Functions



  • Communicates and supports the Kirby Smith vision and core values of One Mission, One Team, One Plan, One Goal
  • Prepares and posts journal entries
  • Reconciles general ledger accounts and bank statements to ensure accuracy and completeness
  • Assists with month-end and year-end closing processes to ensure timely and accurate reporting
  • Maintains accurate financial records and supporting documentation
  • Supports accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
  • Assists in the preparation of financial reports and schedules
  • Ensures compliance with internal financial policies and applicable accounting standards
  • Supports audits and provides requested documentation
  • Identifies discrepancies and resolves issues in a timely manner
  • Collaborates with other departments to support efficient financial operations
  • Consistent and reliable on-site attendance
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned


Accountant Minimum Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree in accounting
  • One (1) year of accounting experience
  • Basic understanding of GAAP and other relevant accounting standards
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Ability to analyze data, identify issues, and resolve problems independently
  • Experience with accounting software or ERP systems
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment


Accountant Physical Requirements



  • Seeing, Hearing/Listening, Clear Speech, Touching (Dexterity, Hand, Finger)
  • Sitting Long Periods
