General Purpose

The Lending Trainer reports directly to the Head of Staff Development and is an integral part of Alpine Bank's goal to mentor staff in alignment with long-term organizational objectives. The successful applicant possesses an educator's mindset, interacts well with students, and demonstrates an ongoing willingness to learn.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Works collaboratively with Staff Development and other departments to develop and implement lending curriculum, manuals, and resources.
  • Instructs staff on lending basics and principles.
  • Trains lending staff, including retail and loan operations, on Lending Operations Software.
  • Stays up to date on changes made to Lending Operations Software and educates staff on any new developments.
  • Supports lending staff by answering questions and providing ongoing instruction as needed.
  • Develops and maintains a high level of lending knowledge including but not limited to financial accounting, consumer lending, business lending, commercial lending, underwriting, and loan documentation.
  • Understands and applies Alpine Bank processes, policies, and loan guidelines.
  • Develops expert proficiency in Alpine Bank loan policy and loan guidelines to become a reliable and approachable resource for bank staff.
  • Consistently provides feedback to managers regarding an individual's progress throughout lending training.
  • Assesses loan training effectiveness through quizzes, assessments, and collaborates with management to identify knowledge gaps.
  • Ensures materials are up to date with State and Federal regulations.
  • Administers outside training services.
  • Travels to various locations throughout the state to facilitate and provide instruction, as needed.
  • Regular and reliable on-site attendance is required as an essential function of this position.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications

  • Proficient in computer applications such as Adobe, Microsoft Word, and Excel.

Education or Formal Training:



  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) equivalent required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or similar field is preferred.
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid State of Colorado Drivers' License, required.
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid NMLS License, required.


Experience:



  • A minimum of two (2) years in a similar banking environment.
  • A strong exposure and understanding of loan documentation and lending principles is preferred.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted on a year to year basis.


Working Conditions

Working Environment:

This job operates in a professional office environment, that may have a hybrid schedule to include remote work and in office but can change any time at management discretion. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, multifunction printers, and filing cabinets. Frequent travel is required for this job.

Physical Activities:

These are representative of those which must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

This is largely a sedentary role; however, some physical demands of standing and/or sitting for long periods of time may occur, with some filing or organizing of materials/supplies; it would require the ability to reach for and lift files and items, open cabinets and bend or stand on a stool, as necessary. Good eyesight and hand/finger dexterity, and ability to remain calm and professional with upset employees is necessary. May spend significant time doing computer work, with repetitive motion likely. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus. Employee may have to lift up to 25 pounds.
