Who we are and what we do:

The Tennessee Department of Correction operates and oversees 14 adult prisons across the state, housing some 21,000 offenders. In the community, TDOC supervises 79,000 offenders on probation, parole, or community corrections. The department operates 44 probation/parole offices in 13 districts across the state.

Job Overview:

The CSIC Director oversees all operations of the Safety Intelligence Center, ensuring strategic integration of advanced technologies and intelligence-driven processes to enhance institutional and community safety. This role provides leadership, vision, and operational oversight for intelligence coordination, incident response, and proactive safety measures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Directs and manages CSIC operations, including intelligence analysis, technology integration, and incident response.
  • Oversees all operations of the Safety Intelligence Center, ensuring strategic integration of advanced technologies and intelligence-driven processes to enhance institutional and community safety.
  • Provides leadership, vision, and operational oversight for intelligence coordination, incident response, and proactive safety measures.
  • Develops and implements strategic plans to improve institutional and community safety.
  • Coordinates with TDOC leadership, law enforcement, and external agencies for intelligence sharing and joint operations
  • Oversees and ensures compliance with TDOC policies, state regulations, and security protocols.
  • Establishes and drives supervision and mentorship standards for CSIC staff, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Oversees and supports criminal and administrative investigations; when applicable.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and five (5) years of experience as a police officer, correction officer, or probation/parole officer with at least one (1) year in a command level leadership capacity.

Preferred Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree with ten (10) years of experience as a police officer, correction officer, or probation/parole officer with five (5) years in a command level leadership capacity

OR

A graduate degree, completion of a recognized law enforcement training program (i.e. TLETA, POST, TBI) and experience performing or instructing in criminal investigation work in a government setting, law enforcement, professional criminal law, and/or similar related field with at least one (1) year leading operations of a real time crime center is preferred.

Additional Employment Requirements:

  1. All applicants must be a U.S. Citizen, 21 years of age, and possess a valid Tennessee drivers license at the time of hire.
  2. Applicants must successfully pass a structured interview, meet medical and psychological qualifications, and complete a background check.
  3. Applicants must be willing to and able to qualify with, carry, and use assigned weapons.
  4. Candidate must participate in pre-employment, random and all other drug and substance abuse testing as required by departmental policies and procedures.
