Details: The Disability Support Coordinator works directly with students, creating and implementing services and programming to meet the needs of various students, including neurodivergent individuals, as well as supporting academic integrity in the testing unit. This person will have knowledge and background in individualized support for students with disabilities in higher education. This person will be skilled with assistive technology used for accommodations which includes document conversion, accessible document creation, screen reading, dictation technology, etc. and will adhere to best practices in writing contact notes, record keeping, and monitoring of accommodations. This person facilitates communication among the following: Disability Resources, students, instructors, and other University offices and colleges across the UMD campus, such as Housing & Residence Life, as coordinator of requests for both housing and temporary accommodations. The Disability Support Coordinator also participates in outreach activities in Disability Resources and the University, both as a spokesperson for the area/unit and as a participant in professional development activities, and should be adept at speaking to large and small groups of students, staff, and faculty. The Disability Support Coordinator shows evidence of substantial knowledge of disability and diversity issues and demonstrates the ability to interact positively with individuals from diverse communities. Additionally, this person demonstrates the ability to create a positive, productive work environment that supports teamwork and promotes access. The Disability Support Coordinator adheres to best practice standards in confidential communications, writing contact notes, recordkeeping, monitoring accommodations, and academic support of students. * Provide training and create content for presentations to University units and to the community on relevant accommodation and disability issues Qualifications
