About the Role

Our Elixir Strings team is looking for a Machine Operator for 2nd shift who will be responsible for operating high speed automated machines and equipment that produceElixir Strings for musicians around the world. At times the candidate will partner with technical, skill trades, and Continuous Improvement teams to implement process improvements in the Specialty Group.

Standard hours are Monday afternoon - Friday evening, 3 p.m. - 11:30 p.m. This role is based out a facility in Elkton, Maryland.

Pay and Benefits:

  • $25 - $33 per hour
  • This role is eligible for an additional $2/hour shift differential pay for evening, night, and weekend shifts (in California, the shift differential pay is $2.40/hour).

Responsibilities
  • Perform set-up, inspection, and operation of multiple automated machines, along with recording process data
  • Utilize quality system and maintain understanding of relevant procedures and SOP's. Read and follow all process SOPs to perform set-up, inspection, and operation of multiple automated and manual machines
  • Partner with the shop, engineering, and GBS/CI teams to help identify opportunities for improvement and participate in Lean Manufacturing System initiatives
  • Learn new processing technologies quickly to consistently increase production levels to meet demand
  • Follow and support all environmental, health, and safety requirements in the work area as well as actively reporting all near misses and unsafe conditions
  • Be a flexible, reliable teammate in a dynamic fast paced production environment
  • Achieve efficient throughput standards for automated and manual string assembly
  • Willingness to work overtime as needed and be flexible in work hours to meet business demand requirements

Required Qualifications
  • Minimum 1 year demonstrated skills in a very fast-paced work environment
  • Demonstrated work ethics that fosters reliability and the ability to work overtime as identified by the business
  • Basic math and computer skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; be energized in a team environment where success is determined by the individual's capability to work well with the rest of the team and individually
  • Capable of receiving training on any shift
  • Ability to prioritize workload and multitasking
  • Ability to work in a standing position for prolonged periods of time during shift and occasionally lift 30 lbs.
Desired Qualifications
  • Demonstrated skill as a high-performance Elixir Strings machine operator
  • Experience with MES computer systems
  • Be passionate about manufacturing products that are the highest quality in their class
