Are you an experienced engineering professional ready to take on increasingly complex building systems? Do you enjoy designing integrated physical security solutions that enhance safety, operational reliability, and occupant experience across modern facilities?

CHA Consulting, Inc. is seeking a Security Electronics Engineer IV to join our MEP Team in Albany, NY; Syracuse, NY; or Rochester, NY. In this role, you will support the planning, design, and implementation of physical security for critical infrastructure, corporate, and government environments. This is an opportunity to collaborate with multidisciplinary MEP teams to deliver coordinated, constructible solutions that align with client needs, regulatory requirements, and evolving building technologies.



What You'll Do:

    Provide advanced engineering judgment to complete complex physical security system designs, technical reports, specifications, and contract documents
  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate detailed engineering phases in collaboration with mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, architectural, and project management teams
  • Support project execution by monitoring progress, identifying risks, and ensuring performance aligns with client expectations and building operational requirements
  • Deliver technically sound, code-compliant solutions within budget and schedule constraints, supporting long term system reliability and maintainability
  • Provide guidance, technical review, and mentorship to junior engineering staff


What You Bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required
  • Minimum of 4 years of discipline-specific engineering experience required
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required
  • Certified Protection Professional (CPP) or Physical Security Professional (PSP) preferred
  • Demonstrates a strong knowledge of physical security engineering with the proven ability to practically apply engineering best practices
  • Advanced proficiency in engineering, computational, and modeling software (Revit, AutoCAD, MicroStation, etc.) as well as Microsoft Office
  • Industry product knowledge centered around top manufacturers in each of the following: Electronic Access Control, Video Surveillance, Contraband/Weapon Detection, Personal Duress Systems, Perimeter Detection, Perimeter Protection, Programmable Logic Controllers, Intercoms/Paging, Guard Tour Technology, Key Systems, and Telecommunications
  • Strong knowledge of QA/QC procedures, business practices, and engineering laws
  • Proven leadership skills and ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Participation in professional engineering societies/organizations preferred

Salary Range:

$115,000 - $130,000

Salary is based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and fair market evaluation based on industry standards.
