Hourly Pay Range:

$18.84 - $27.32 - The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.

  • Hours: Monday-Friday [8am-4:30pm]

A Brief Overview:
The Research Assistant plays a key role in supporting and contributing to research initiatives within the hospital's OBGYN Research Department. This position offers the opportunity to participate in innovative medical research projects that may significantly impact patient care and advance healthcare knowledge. Current research projects include in vivo and in vitro studies investigating the role of vitamin D and progestogens in ovarian cancer prevention.

What you will do:

  • Collaborate closely with the Research Scientist and other team members to plan, design, and conduct laboratory experiments.
  • Train lab members in basic science laboratory techniques.
  • Collect, record, and analyze research data using established laboratory techniques and protocols (e.g., cell culture, Western blotting, PCR; in vivo animal studies conducted in accordance with institutional and humane care guidelines).
  • Conduct literature reviews to support research design, protocol development, grant applications, and manuscript preparation.
  • Prepare and maintain laboratory materials such as reagents, tissue samples, and specimens, ensuring proper labeling, storage, and documentation.
  • Maintain accurate and organized research records, including electronic and paper files, while ensuring data confidentiality and security.
  • Prepare, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment, ensuring proper functionality and cleanliness.
  • Procure laboratory supplies and materials as needed and maintain a spreadsheet tracking lab expenses.
  • Participate in research team meetings, contribute to discussions, and stay informed about emerging developments in the field.

What you will need:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree

  • Experience: Previous experience in a research setting is preferred, ideally in a university, industry, healthcare, or hospital research laboratory .
