Summary
Do you want to join a high-growth organization and drive the prevention of injury and illness through continued improvement of occupational safety and health performance? Come join our team. Weisiger Group is searching for an Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Manager for the Construction and Rental portions of our Carolina Cat division. This is a senior-level individual contributor role focused on the expert implementation and maintenance of EHS programs, driving injury and vehicular incident reduction, and fostering a positive safety culture. At Weisiger Group, we believe that maintaining a healthy and safe working environment is not only "the right thing to do" for our employees, business partners, and communities, it is an essential element in providing superior levels of productivity and efficiency, and overall shareholder value.
As EHS Manager, you will serve as the primary technical lead for EHS functions for the assigned branches and mobile technicians. You will act as a dedicated partner to Operations, Fleet, Human Resources, and Legal, using data and project management to drive continuous improvement without direct people-management responsibilities. Each day you will partner with Carolina Cat leadership and work with branch and mobile technicians that service construction equipment and similar types of industrial vehicles and equipment. You will use data to evaluate trends related to leading and lagging indicators to help your partners focus on performance improvement through safety incident prevention, investigation, and mitigation.
Essential Functions
  • Subject Matter Expertise: Serve as an EHS regulatory and risk-reduction expert for the Carolina Cat division.
  • Program Ownership: Lead the implementation of EHS initiatives across all assigned locations, focusing on risk mitigation, incident reduction, and regulatory compliance.
  • Trend Analysis & Strategy: Identify emerging compliance risks and incident trends to independently develop and deploy targeted initiatives that address identified gaps.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner directly with branch leadership and support teams to align EHS strategies with operational realities and technician needs.
  • Process Improvement: Act as a creative problem-solver to simplify complex safety challenges into actionable, site-level improvements.
  • Field Oversight: Execute a field-based safety strategy for JSA/Pre-Job Briefings to identify hazards, error traps, and controls, ensuring protection against high-energy hazards is never compromised. Apply Human and Organizational Performance (HOP) principles to event reviews and field audits, focusing on system resilience and "work-as-done" rather than individual error. Conduct behavioral and regulatory compliance assessments and Gemba walks to provide proactive oversight of policy implementation.
  • Project Management: Drive safety improvement actions to closure, ensuring clear ownership, tracking, and post-closure validation of corrective actions and controls.
  • Training & Coaching: Assist in developing specialized training materials and provide direct coaching and formal safety education to employees and supervisors.
  • Data Systems: Leverage EHS data analysis to evaluate leading and lagging indicators and inform strategic business decisions.
  • Administrative Support: Coordinate with EHS staff regarding workers' compensation claim reporting and manage new location safety system startups.
