Under the direct supervision of the Urology Nurse Manager and Nurse Supervisor, and the general supervision of clinic providers and licensed nursing staff, the Medical Assistant supports urology patients as part of our patient-centered Care Navigation Hub. This role performs a variety of work duties which requires specific knowledge and training in patient care duties within business and professions code of the State of California and/or the regulations The Joint Commission (TJC). The Medical Assistant Lead is responsible for assisting with phone-based patient communication, MyChart message support, appointment scheduling, referral processing, care coordination, and pre- and post-procedure follow-up for urology patients. The Medical Assistant will also float to assist in urology clinics as needed. The Medical Assistant must demonstrate strong communication, organizational, and customer service skills while working collaboratively with providers, nurses, and other healthcare team members in a fast-paced outpatient urology practice. This role plays a key part in ensuring a positive experience for patients, providers, and team members in both virtual and in-clinic settings. The Medical Assistant is also expected to perform clinical and administrative duties within their scope of practice, following established protocols, policies, and provider direction. The position requires the ability to prioritize tasks, use sound judgment, and contribute effectively to an interdisciplinary healthcare team to support safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care. The Lead Medical Assistant also provides training, guidance, and day-to-day support to other medical assistants, serving as a resource for the department. This includes offering direction, assisting with scheduling and onboarding, and supporting skill development. The Lead participates in improvement efforts that enhance clinic operations and patient care. Other lead responsibilities may be assigned as needed. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Pay Transparency Act Annual Full Pay Range: $60,239 - $75,001 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%) Hourly Equivalent: $28.85 - $35.92 Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable). | |
