TITLE: Staff Accountant

LOCATION: Hybrid in Alsip, IL
on average 1-2days a week

COMP RANGE: $58,000-70,000/year

Griffith Foods is hiring a Staff Accountant to support general accounting, cost accounting, freight reporting, and internal control assessment within GFUS. This includes reporting and analysis, system maintenance, and functional support. The scope of work includes a net sales budget of $370MM with an operating profit of $59MM, and Freight expenses for all three companies are between $11-12 million annually.

As a Staff Accountant your responsibilities will include:

• General Accounting
  • You will manage 3 key areas within general accounting:
    • Maintaining balance sheet reconciliations for three business units.
    • Assist with daily / weekly accounting needs including but not limited to: weekly check runs, check deposits, assistance with coding.
    • Month end processes include: standard month-end entries, preparing and analyzing month end results, and headcount reporting and tracking.
• Cost Accounting
  • Internal Control & Process Documentation
  • Reviewing and documenting internal controls as they relate to disbursements, journal entries and financial statement preparations and support the annual audit performed by our external auditors.
  • Cross training with Supply Chain Finance Analyst and be available to assist for mid-year and year-end inventory audit.
• Analytical/Development (Freight)
  • Responsible for maintaining our freight reporting and administrative work. This includes audit savings report, month end Journal Entries, and daily coding of freight charges
  • Working with our outside payment vendor (Geodis) to understand current capabilities with freight information/reporting and could develop into opportunities for cost improvement with freight carriers and processes.
• Other
  • Prepare monthly expense files and analyze results for distribution to department heads.
• Griffith Continuous Improvement Projects
  • Validate improvement projects that will result in cost savings and/or additional revenue for the company.

The Staff Accountant position may be right for you if you:

Qualified candidates will have:

• Bachelor's degree (BA or BS) in Accounting or Finance from a four-year college or university.
• 1-3 years of related experience.
• Excellent verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and proactive analytics.
• Strong computer skills including advanced excel, (Pivot tables, VLOOKUP, formula creation, Power Pivot) is required.
• Candidates must currently possess unrestricted authorization to work in the United States. Work visa sponsorship is not available for this role.

What will set you apart:

• Experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus.
• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics and Freight Management system is a plus.
