Our SDG team in East Aurora, NY is looking for a Sr. Manufacturing Engineer to join their dynamic team. You will report directly to the Sr. Performance Leader - Manufacturing Engineering and enjoy a collaborative working environment that offers an onsite work schedule.

This Sr. Manufacturing Engineer role provides Weld Support while partnering closely with design engineering throughout preproduction and production to ensure hardware designs align with manufacturing and welding capabilities. Responsibilities include developing efficient electron beam and orbital welding processes, defining fixtures, tooling and gauging needs, and supporting complex machined and welded assemblies. In the Weld Support capacity, the role focuses on preparing detailed operation sheets and process documentation, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality, cost, and delivery performance.

As a Sr. Manufacturing Engineer, you will:

  • Design and implement welding processes that meet quality and cost objectives.
  • Team with Manufacturing Engineering, Assembly & Test and other various departments to optimize product designs & fixturing for weldability.
  • Collaborate with outside vendors/machine shop to identify source of supply for the manufacturing of fixture designs.
  • Work with the proposal group to provide process, time estimates & fixturing needs.
  • Develop and maintain accurate process documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and company standards.
  • Drive process improvements using lean principles and advanced welding technologies.
  • Training & mentoring to technically guide tool designers and manufacturing engineers.
  • Blueprint reading is required for both hardware and fixture drawings.
  • Understand and properly use measurement tools to verify compliance to drawing.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in microscope use.
  • Experience in failure investigations leading to root cause and corrective actions along with implementation of the corrective actions.
  • Files, retrieves, and updates weld schedules and qualifications.

To be considered for this Sr. Manufacturing Engineer role, here's what you'll need to bring with you:

  • ABachelor's degreein a technical field with 5 yearsof relevant professional experience
    • Or anAssociate's degreewith9 yearsof relevant professional experience
    • Or aHigh School Diploma/GEDwith12 yearsof proven professional experience
  • Knowledge of welding processes, tooling design, and quality control methods
  • Excellent communication and ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment

It'd be great if you also had:

  • Aerospace industry experience preferred
  • Electron beam and orbital welding processing experience preferred
  • Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) preferred
  • Experience in leading or mentoring people is a plus
  • Familiarity with GD&T is a plus

Salary Range Transparency:

Buffalo, NY $95,000.00-$125,000.00 Annually

Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range(s) listed is just one component of Moog's total compensation package for employees.
