Responsibilities

We are seeking a detailoriented Senior Application Packager to design, build, test, and maintain application packages for enterprise deployment. The ideal candidate has deep experience with packaging technologies, strong scripting and automation skills, and a solid understanding of secure software delivery practices. This role works closely with desktop engineering, security, and application teams to ensure consistent, reliable, and compliant software deployment across the organization

Key Responsibilities

Application Packaging & Engineering

    Create, update, and maintain application packages using industrystandard tools and best practices.
  • Repackage vendor applications (MSI, MSIX, AppV, custom installers) for enterprise deployment.
  • Develop and maintain installation scripts (PowerShell, VBScript, Batch) to automate complex installs and configurations.
  • Bundle required files, dependencies, and configuration settings into standardized, supportable packages.

Testing, Validation & Troubleshooting

  • Perform functional, compatibility, and performance testing in virtual and physical environments.
  • Validate packages across multiple OS versions, architectures, and security baselines.
  • Diagnose and resolve installation issues, compatibility conflicts, and deployment failures in test and production environments.

Deployment & Lifecycle Management

  • Utilize enterprise deployment tools (MECM/SCCM, Intune, etc.) to distribute packaged applications.
  • Support full application lifecycle management, including new releases, updates, and retirements.
  • Maintain version control, documentation, and packaging standards.

Security, Compliance & Collaboration

  • Collaborate with security teams to ensure packaged applications meet organizational security requirements.
  • Implement secure packaging practices, including codesigning and integrity validation.
  • Work with IT managers, application owners, and vendors to gather requirements and ensure successful integration.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of packaging processes, automation, and deployment workflows.


Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in information technology or related field and 5 years of experience in application packaging or desktop engineering. 4 years of additional experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
  • Handson experience with packaging tools and formats (MSI, MSIX, AppV, SCCM/MECM, Intune).
  • Strong understanding of Windows OS internals and application installation processes.
  • Proficiency with scripting languages (PowerShell required; VBScript or similar preferred).
  • DoD 8140 IAT Level II certification (e.g., Security+).
  • Active TS/SCI clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM/SCCM) and Intune.
  • Experience with virtualization or containerbased application delivery (AppV, MSIX App Attach, etc.).
  • Knowledge of application security, hardening practices, and secure coding principles.
  • Relevant certifications (Microsoft, ITIL, endpoint management, or packagingspecific credentials).

Target Salary Range

$86,000 - $138,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
