This position follows a hybrid work model for candidates residing in Ohio, Indiana, or Kentucky. Candidates must live within the Cincinnati Tri-State area and be able to commute to UC's Main Campus as needed. Remote work is governed by university policy and may be adjusted accordingly.

Job Overview

The Digital Content Specialist plays a central role in shaping, writing, editing, and publishing content across UC Online's digital ecosystem. This role blends strong copywriting and editorial skills with content operations, accessibility, and brand governance.



This position is ideal for someone who enjoys writing original content, refining voice and tone, and translating complex academic and institutional information into clear, compelling, audience-centered messaging. The role also supports publishing workflows, content standards, and collaboration across centralized and decentralized teams.

Essential Functions

  • Write, edit, and publish original digital content, including blogs, feature stories, and long-form editorial pieces that support brand positioning, SEO, and learner engagement.
  • Create and adapt content for distribution across multiple channels, including websites, email marketing, and social media, following established brand and style guidelines.
  • Contribute regularly to UC Online's blog and editorial content calendar, supporting content development from ideation through publication in collaboration with senior content staff.
  • Review, copyedit, and publish digital content to ensure clarity, consistency, accuracy, and alignment with brand voice and accessibility standards.
  • Translate complex academic, programmatic, and institutional information into clear, accessible, and engaging copy for prospective and current learners.
  • Assist with updating and refreshing existing content to ensure relevance, accuracy, and performance over time.
  • Support accessibility compliance by applying WCAG standards and Sections 504 and 508 requirements to digital content and collaborate with technical and communications teams.
  • Provide CMS support and assistance to web content editors as directed, following established workflows and processes.
  • Support coordination of digital editorial schedules and content updates as assigned.
  • Manage assigned content management system tasks and perform related duties based on departmental needs.

Required Education

  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Five (5) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.


Required Experience

  • Experience with web content management systems and digital publishing workflows.
  • Working knowledge of HTML, CSS and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Understanding of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).

Additional Qualifications Considered

  • One or more years of experience in copywriting, editorial writing, social media, content creation, or content management for digital platforms.
  • Demonstrated ability to write and edit clear, engaging long-form content (blogs, articles, features, or similar) and short-form content (social media).
  • Experience writing and creating content for higher education, mission-driven organizations, or complex institutions.
  • Familiarity with SEO best practices and content performance measurement.
  • Strong editorial judgment and the ability to balance creativity with brand and compliance requirements.
