Estimated annual base pay: $78,000(minimum) - $102,000(midpoint) - $125,000(maximum)

The OpenText Content Administrator plays a critical role in managing, maintaining, optimizing, and expanding of the use of the OpenText Content Server environment. This role collaborates with others to drive the development and execution of our content management strategy, including:

  • Planning and execution of document conversions and migrations to ensure seamless transfer of data to ensure migrated content is secure, accessible, and compliant with organizational policies.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance document management capabilities, integrating OpenText Content Server with other platforms, and ensuring the implementation of reliable backup, restoration, and disaster recovery processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • System Lifecycle Management: Independently manage system OpenText upgrades and environment refreshes; troubleshoot installation issues and optimize configurations. Configure, install, and maintain OpenText Content Server and related modules. Take ownership of application updates, patches, and upgrades to ensure optimal performance and security. Identify inefficiencies in application workflows and recommend improvements.
  • Performance and Reliability Engineering: Analyze performance metrics to identify trends; implement tuning recommendations and validate improvements. Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, optimize SQL database queries for efficiency, and maintain database health.
  • Security and Compliance Administration: Manage user roles and permissions for large teams, ensuring security and proper access control. Configure and manage user roles, access controls, and permissions to ensure application (e.g. SAP, Windchill, Workday, etc.) security.
  • Content Migration Tools and Techniques: Experience with tools like OpenText Migration Center, Content Server REST API, or other migration utilities for exporting and importing data.
  • Metadata Mapping and Transformation: Ability to map metadata fields between source and target systems, ensuring data integrity and compatibility.
  • Workflow and Permissions Management: Knowledge of setting up workflows, managing user permissions, and ensuring proper governance during and after migrations.
  • Scripting and Automation: Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python, or SQL) to automate repetitive tasks or customize migration processes.
  • Problem Solving and Root Cause Analysis: Capability to troubleshoot more complex issues during migrations, such as failed imports, mismatched metadata, or corrupted files.
  • Additional responsibilities include: Day-to-day administration, performance tuning, system monitoring, and ensuring the overall functionality of the content management platform.

Key Skills:

  • Proficient knowledge of OpenText Extended ECM (xECM) administration, OpenText Archive Center, including workflows and configuration. Ability to create and optimize workflows to align with business processes.
  • Experience with data migration processes, tools, and validation techniques.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise content management principles and best practices.
  • Knowledge of API integration and scripting languages (e.g., REST API, Java, or Python) and experience with integrations between OpenText and other enterprise systems.
  • Familiarity with information governance and knowledge of compliance standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, ITAR) and their impact on content management.
  • Project management skills to handle multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Strong understanding of database management and querying using SQL.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Intermediate knowledge of IT infrastructure (e.g., servers, networks, and storage).
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Successful candidates typically have:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related discipline is preferred.
  • OpenText Content Server Administrator Certification
  • 2-5 years of experience in OpenText Content Server administration or equivalent ECM platforms.
  • Hands-on experience with OpenText modules like Records Management, Extended ECM, or Archiving.
  • Prior experience with OpenText InfoArchive is a bonus.
