Job Description:

SCOPE/CONTACTS:

The primary function of the position is working with the SVP of Portfolio Management and the EVP of Commercial Banking on credit underwriting and post-closing/ongoing risk management of higher exposure loan relationships within the organization. Additional functions include collaboration with Corporate Lending, Credit Administration, Credit Analysis, and Loan Review teams to maintain high quality credit and risk management for the Bank's Loan Portfolio. The primary function is the origination support and ongoing risk management of higher exposure loan relationships to reduce the likelihood of significant losses due to defaults. Preferred experience includes loan structuring, closing, monitoring, and workout to ensure the loan portfolio is maintained with the highest level of oversight. The position would also partner with the Chief Credit Officer and Credit Administrators to build future middle market lenders within the organization.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Portfolio Management

  • Work directly with commercial lenders in every Bank market on certain credits requiring advanced expertise and monitoring
  • Work closely with Credit Administrators and Chief Credit Officer to ensure oversight and portfolio maintenance adheres with Bank credit policy and risk appetite
  • Financial Reporting and Financial Covenant monitoring/tracking of certain credits as assigned
  • Obtain financial information from clients within parameters of Loan Agreements
  • Calculate financial covenant ratios within the parameters of Loan Agreements and reconcile discrepancies between the Bank and borrowers
  • Analyze financials on existing relationships and prepare updated loan file memos and approval memos
  • Work closely with Credit Administrators and Chief Credit Officer to ensure oversight and portfolio maintenance adheres with FFB credit policy and risk appetite
  • Review Closing Documents to ensure alignment with approved terms by loan committee
  • Review Loan Agreements to ensure all necessary Financial Covenants, Reporting Requirements, and other requirements are clearly and correctly defined
  • Work with Lenders to correct any discrepancies/inconsistencies between approved terms and Loan Agreements
  • Direct the monthly Annual Review process to ensure timely completion of higher exposure loan relationships within the organization
  • Generate financial ratios, using computer programs, to evaluate customers' financial status
  • Present analysis, findings, and recommendations to managers, especially findings that involve a borrower's ability to repay
  • Keep up to date with company's lending protocols

Other Tasks

  • Manage Borrowing Base monitoring. Review monthly borrowing bases and instruct Loan Operations to cap availability in Jack Henry
  • Direct Problem Loan Reports process quarterly and coordinate on classified loans over $750M
  • Prepare and deliver informational presentations to Lenders and Senior Management
  • Create legal documentation due in an Event of Default
  • Assist with any audits/risk reviews, including coordinate responses, monitor action steps for remediation, etc.
  • Develop and maintain a positive rapport with the Credit/Risk Management Team and adhere to policy standards within the loan portfolio
  • Assist the team during vacations/absences as necessary
  • Provide sales & customer service support as necessary, be available for joint calling efforts with the team and Senior Management
  • Communicate with customers on behalf of the Bank

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or business administration with a minimum level of accounting background
  • Formally credit trained and demonstrated experience and judgment with credit decisions and analysis
  • Minimum two years' experience working with limited supervision
  • Demonstrated experience, knowledge and judgment with structure, credit decisions, and analysis
  • Able to grasp and understand C&I, C&D, and CRE concepts and structures
  • Able to prepare comprehensive, cohesive, detailed written analysis and narrative
  • Demonstrated above average written and oral communication skills
  • Familiar with PCs and PC software, specifically Microsoft applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.)
