The UNM Medical Group, Inc. is hiring for a Medical Director to join our Dental Clinic in Albuquerque, NM. This opportunity is for 0.1FTE. The ASC is an AAAHC Accredited site which adheres to the highest standard of patient care and quality. This position will require gaining knowledge of regulatory standards in an OR setting and supporting these standards with providers and staff.

Only UNM Health System Providers will be considered.

Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Medical Director to join our healthcare team. As a Medical Director, you will provide comprehensive medical care to patients, diagnose illnesses, and develop treatment plans to promote optimal health. You will collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure high-quality patient care and contribute to the overall success of our medical facility.

Minimum Qualifications of a Medical Director:

-MD, DO, DMD and DDS with 3 to 5 years of directly related experience which may include residency in a directly related medical specialty. State of New Mexico and Federal DEA Certification; Medical Specialty License or Certification; Board Certified or Board Eligible in specified area of medical specialty. Completed degree from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis. Verification of education and licensure (if applicable) will be required if selected for hire.

Preferred Qualifications:



  • Experience working with dental residents
  • Experience in the practice of the full scope general dentistry including surgical procedures
  • Experience in special needs practice or the willingness to learn special needs dentistry with adaptations such as papoose boards
  • Demonstrated skills for implants
  • Demonstrated skills for impacted and surgical extractions at the higher level of general dentists
  • Hospital dentistry
  • Any general dentistry residency program completion


Duties and Responsibilities of a Medical Director:

The duties of the healthcare facility Medical Director include but are not limited to the following:



  • Establishing, with healthcare facility staff and administration, the type and scope of services required to meet patient care requirements;
  • Directing the administration of all services throughout the designated UNMMG healthcare facility to include planning, directing, and supervising;
  • Developing and implementing policies and procedures which guide and support the provision of services in the designated healthcare facility;
  • Recommending the criteria for clinical privileges in the designated UNMMG healthcare facility;
  • Continuing surveillance of professional performance of all individuals with clinical privileges in the healthcare facility will occur based on peer review procedures.
  • Maintaining quality control programs as appropriate;
  • Ensuring that all services are integrated into the UNMMG healthcare facility Performance Improvement Program;
  • Ensuring the orientation and continuing education of all persons in the designated UNMMG healthcare facility;
  • Making recommendations for space and other resources needed by the designated UNMMG healthcare facility;
  • Ongoing, effective operation of the designated UNMMG healthcare facility by assessing the improvement of its activities; such responsibilities encompass not only the internal functioning, but also the integration of each division into the overall functioning of the organization;
  • Collaboratively participates in the development of healthcare facility specific criteria for clinical privilege sets;
  • Completing annual evaluations and personnel actions as applicable in a timely manner;
  • Demonstrating fiscal responsibility, accountability and timeliness in the administration and operation of assigned UNMMG healthcare facilities

Three locations offer specific types of dental care.

Camino de Salud Residency Clinic and Faculty Practice

Services are provided by dental school graduates. Experienced dental faculty oversee your care, including care for medically complex patients. Available services include cosmetic, implant and sedation dentistry, as well as oral surgery and teeth whitening.

Camino de Salud Ambulatory Surgical Center

This state-of-the-art surgical center is staffed by an experienced team of dental and nursing professionals. Appointments are by referral only. We treat a wide range of patients, including children and patients with extensive dental needs.

UNM Dental Hygiene Services at Novitski Hall

Dental hygiene students treat patients under licensed dental faculty supervision.
