Senior Subject Matter Expert (SME) - SLS Program Planning & Control (PP&C)

Location: Huntsville, AL (Marshall Space Flight Center)

Job Status: Full-Time

Travel: Limited, as needed

Must be a US citizen

The Space Launch System (SLS) Program Planning & Control (PP&C) Office within the NASA SLS Program Office is responsible for the top-level development, planning, and execution of the SLS Program, supporting design, development, testing, and operational readiness.

The Senior Subject Matter Expert (SME) will provide high-level programmatic expertise, analysis, consulting, and mentoring to PP&C teams supporting the SLS Program at Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC).

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (master's degree preferred).
  • Minimum of 35 years of experience in a related technical or programmatic field.
  • Extensive experience conducting program and project assessments and performance analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability to advise senior leadership and mentor multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, including executive-level briefings.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support the SLS Program Planning & Control Office in accordance with PWS 6.1 (General Programmatic SME Requirements) and PWS 6.2.8 (MSFC Programmatic SME Requirements).
  • Perform assessments of large-scale aerospace programs and projects, including performance analysis at both Program and Element levels.
  • Advise senior decision-makers by analyzing and evaluating programmatic and element performance metrics.
  • Provide consulting and mentoring support to the SLS PP&C Integration Team.
  • Provide consulting and mentoring to the Spacecraft and Payload Integration and Evolution (SPIE) Element PP&C team.
  • Interface and collaborate with senior personnel at MSFC, SLS prime contractors, other NASA centers, the Department of Defense, industry partners, and academia as required.
  • Prepare and deliver programmatic analyses, briefings, and documentation supporting leadership decision-making.

Deliverables

  • Monthly activity reports summarizing briefings, documents, and analyses performed.
  • Oral status reviews and briefings to SLS Managers, as required.
