CHA Consulting, Inc. is seeking a Project Engineer to join our Highway & Rail Team in Columbia, SC and apply advanced engineering expertise to design, develop, and implement transportation infrastructure projects. This is your opportunity to take ownership of major project components, provide technical leadership, and mentor junior engineers-helping elevate our team's capabilities while shaping the future of highways, bridges, and rail systems.



What You'll Do:

    Provide advanced judgement and analysis techniques to complete complex engineering designs, technical reports, specifications, and contract documents for highway and rail projects
  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate detailed phases of projects with other engineering disciplines and project management staff
  • Monitor project progress and performance to ensure efficient production and minimize issues in vital infrastructure
  • Complete projects within budget and scheduling constraints, supporting sustainable and cost-effective solutions
  • Provide guidance and technical review for junior engineering staff


What You Bring:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering required
  • Minimum of 4 years of discipline-specific engineering experience required; roadway or hydraulic design experience preferred
  • SCDOT experience preferred
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required
  • Advanced proficiency in engineering, computational, and modeling software (Revit, AutoCAD, MicroStation, etc.), as well as Microsoft Office
  • Strong knowledge of QA/QC procedures, business practices, and engineering laws.
  • Proven leadership skills and ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Participation in professional engineering societies/organizations preferred

Salary Range:

$90,000 - $105,000

Salary is based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and fair market evaluation based on industry standards.
