Overview

Salary Range: $74,923-124,456

The Account Manager will be responsible for successful engagement with a large account or a group of small to medium size accounts through collaboration and support within Yusen Logistics Americas (YLA) in achieving profitable growth with the customer in line with the Account Development Plan (ADP). In addition to the focus on growth the Account Manager will work on collecting, analyzing, and applying insights from the operational stakeholders to maximize the efficiency and effectiveness of their supply chain. The candidate should be comfortable building internal relationships and fostering a culture of collaboration across all areas within Yusen Logistics globally.



Responsibilities

    Execution of the account strategy including drafting the Account Development Plan, relationship matrix, a list of prioritized opportunities, investments, and profit & loss projections compared to budget.
  • Grow revenue across assigned accounts by expanding existing relationships and generating new business
  • Provide leadership and direction over all business development activities including lead prospecting, qualifying, developing, winning, and onboarding new business opportunities in line with the ADP.
  • Drive and act as a focal point for the collection, analysis, and application of insight related to the business of the Branch/Regional Account and its industry vertical to align with supply chain/logistics industry specific trends and best practices.
  • Manage ongoing requests from assigned accounts, supporting both existing customers and prospective opportunities, including FMC rate filings, spot quotes, and RFQ/RFP responses in coordination with product, operations, and vendor teams.
  • Act as a single point of contact for the Branch/Regional Account to maximize customer satisfaction and retain the customer. Enable quick decision-making and problem resolution for the Branch/Regional Account's business across the organization globally or locally.
  • Provide leadership in a matrixed environment across the Yusen Logistics Americas network including oversight of a multi-functional operational, management and product members to achieve the objectives in the ADP while ensuring all stakeholders are engaged and effective with their execution.
  • Monitor, update, and enforce the Rate Card and SOP across all operational branch offices on a regular cadence (bi weekly or monthly).
  • Monitor operational trends and exceptions and use this information to recommend operational improvements to customers.
  • Proactively monitor, validate, and distribute operational reports based on relevant KPI's (supplier/origin/carrier/trucker/destination/etc.) to various stakeholders.
  • Participate and potentially lead regular conference calls and/or face-to-face meetings with customer(s) as required.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred ideally in Supply Chain/Logistics, Sales/Marketing or business.
  • Min 3+ years of account management, business development or operations experience within supply chain/logistics.
  • Excellent knowledge of the logistics industry.
  • Deep knowledge of ocean freight products encompassing both import and export services, with the ability to effectively collaborate with internal quoting teams and communicate rates and product information to customers and origin offices.
  • Deep understanding of Ocean Freight FMC filings in order to keep all rates within FMC compliance
  • Attention to detail, routings, port pairs for multiple offices
  • Proven strength in developing and executing a strategy to grow and retain customers.
  • Ability to detect and understand trends in customers' business and industry.
  • Proven ability to collaboratively design and sell large to medium scale solutions, adding value to the customers' business and profit for Yusen.
  • Outstanding communication (verbal and written) and negotiation skills.
  • Proven ability to build relationships within the C-level of the customer's organization based on trust, insight, and quality.
  • Deep understanding of sales in multinational and multicultural global business environments.
  • Fluent English proficiency is mandatory.
  • Proven track record in multicultural people management, including the ability to functionally manage a diverse virtual group of stakeholders.
