The Opportunity

As a Scientist in the Research & Technology Development (RTD) group, you will be at the forefront of diagnostic and pharmaceutical innovation. You are responsible for initiating and executing scientific research that drives our manufacturing process strategies and product pipelines. This role is not just about laboratory execution; it is about investigating the feasibility of emerging scientific principles and translating them into life-saving products.

You will act as a technical consultant, contributing to patent applications, scientific literature, and corporate strategy while ensuring that "Quality First Time" is embedded in every experiment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Innovation & Feasibility: Investigate and apply a wide variety of scientific principles to potential inventions and complex problems. Identify technical challenges early in the development lifecycle.

  • Experimental Design & Execution: Plan and execute laboratory research using advanced scientific knowledge. Utilize Design of Experiments (DOE) to optimize processes and reagents.

  • Strategic Contribution: Participate in project planning and process updates. Contribute to the development of product or process principles to achieve objectives in creative and effective ways.

  • Data Synthesis: Analyze complex data sets, evaluate results, and form conclusions that drive document improvements or process changes.

  • Intellectual Property: Participate in the development of patent applications and create potentially patentable components for systems or reagents.

  • Consultancy & Influence: Serve as an in-house subject matter expert. Prepare and deliver presentations of project results to cross-functional teams and top management.

  • Professional Development: Promote the growth of junior scientists and the advancement of laboratory facilities. Share expertise across functional boundaries.

Who You Are

You are a highly motivated scientist with a passion for bridging the gap between discovery and manufacturing. You possess strong independent thought, scientific creativity, and the ability to lead by influence within a matrixed organization.

Education & Experience:

  • Ph.D. in Science: Entry-level (Candidate must demonstrate high potential for technical proficiency).

  • Master's Degree in Science: Minimum of 3 years of relevant industry experience.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Science: Minimum of 8 years of relevant industry experience.

Technical Skills & Knowledge:

  • Scientific Rigor: Deep understanding of state-of-the-art scientific theories and principles.

  • Analytical Mastery: Proven ability to analyze data, evaluate results, and implement improvements.

  • Technical Writing: Advanced skills in producing high-quality reports, manuscripts, and regulatory documents.

  • Agile Collaboration: Demonstrated ability to work effectively on cross-functional technical teams.

Working Conditions & Physical Demands
  • Standard laboratory environment with occasional travel based on business needs (estimated 10-15%).

  • Adherence to all safety, quality, and environmental regulations.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary Range: 82,700.00 - 153,700.00 USD AnnualTucson/Site location Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and other job-related factors.
