Who We Are:
Venus Aerospace is revolutionizing rocket engine propulsion. With the first generational leap in rocket engine technology since Apollo, our proprietary Rotating Detonation Rocket Engine and Venus Detonation Ramjets deliver historic efficiency and performance across aerospace applications. We are building the next generation of propulsion platforms that enable breakthrough capabilities in space, defense, and commercial high-speed flight. Our team thrives on solving the toughest engineering challenges and pushing the boundaries of what's possible in aerospace. At Venus, we're looking for bold engineers and innovators who want to make history and redefine the future of propulsion.
The Role:
The Director of Communications will lead the company's communications team to develop and execute our comprehensive communications and brand strategy as we transition from early-stage execution to scaled programs, increased public visibility and brand recognition, and deeper engagement with industry, government, and investor stakeholders. In this role, you will be responsible for professionalizing communications across the company by building mature messaging and branding, managing external stakeholders, supporting fundraising and customer milestones, and ensuring communications discipline as the company grows in size and complexity. This leader will deftly balance organizational leadership and strategic judgment with hands-on execution.

Draft and oversee press releases, announcements, executive talking points, op-eds, and thought leadership. Prepare executives for the full range of public engagements, including structured personal preparation, communications products, and media briefings. Manage crisis communications and sensitive issues with speed and discretion.
    • Internal Communications: Oversee internal messaging to ensure synchronization and alignment with external messaging. Build internal communications systems to support a growing workforce (all-hands, leadership updates, change communications). Support other leaders in crafting and publicizing key messages to support strategic company-wide initiatives. Help leadership maintain clarity and alignment as teams, programs, and locations scale. Reinforce mission, values, and culture through clear internal messaging.
    • Brand and Content: Own and maintain a consistent brand and tone across website, social media, recruiting, and external materials. Ensure consistency in branding, messaging, and written products across the company. Develop creative, targeted, and timely campaigns to support key company priorities and aligned with the company's operational and technical progress. Translate complex engineering and programmatic work into accurate, compelling content.
    • Team Leadership: Develop and grow a talented brand and communications team, with structured development opportunities and mentorship. Establish repeatable processes for approvals, reviews, and message consistency. Manage agencies, contractors, or freelancers as needed.
    • Support for Key Executive Communications: Support investor communications around milestones, fundraising, and long-term vision. Support the development of board materials with guidance from other members of the leadership team. Support the development of written and visual products for key customer interactions.
