Job Description:

We're looking for an Interior Design Summer Intern, to join our Mason & Hanger team for Summer 2026. This position is specifically aimed at students enrolled in an accredited Interior Design undergrad program. The Interior Design Summer Intern will be primarily focused on learning production tools and developing their ability to successfully execute project tasks. The Interior Design Summer Intern works in a studio/team environment directly under supervision of more senior staff within department.

As the Interior Design Summer Intern, here's the work you'll do:



  • Creating and editing drawings (CAD / BIM).
  • Perform other duties supporting certified interior designers, as assigned.
  • Perform other duties supporting senior architecture staff, as assigned.
  • Assist with Comprehensive Interior Design submittal including Furniture, Fixtures, & Equipment and Structural Interior Design.
  • Complying with data protection principles while handling personal, protected and / or Covered Defense Information on behalf of Day & Zimmermann. Data Handlers should be trained to follow documented policies, standard operating procedures and secure practices associated with protecting trusted employee and customer data.



This role is for you if you have these skills:



  • Developing proficiency with drawing production software regularly used in department (AutoCAD, Revit, Microstation, AECOsim.).
  • Learning software, processes, and document preparation requirements.
  • Developing knowledge of regularly used standards within department.
  • Developing understanding of design and construction process.
  • Expected to be a proactive learner, responsible to seek out support when needed, identify expectations, check own work output against quality expectations, and pursue opportunities to grow technical capabilities.
  • Ability to take direction and guidance from more senior staff within department.



And if you have these qualifications:



  • Currently enrolled in an Interior Design program from an CIDA accredited school or Bachelors Architecture from an NAAB accredited school.
  • Due to the nature of the work and applicable federal contract requirements, U.S. citizenship is required for this position.
  • Great attitude and team player.
  • Successful completion of background and drug screening process.

In compliance with this state's pay transparency laws, the wage range for this role is $17.75 - $ 19.75 per hour. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. (The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, schedule type, and the applicability of collective bargaining agreements).
