The HR Operations Specialist - Payroll position is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing, maintaining payroll records, and supporting compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. You will handle pre-payroll audits, timecard validation, and support complex multi-state and multi-shift pay processes while maintaining data integrity and compliance.


This position supports our US West sites is a hybrid role with occasional on-site presence at our facilities in any of the four following locations: San Diego, CA, San Antonio TX, Phoenix AZ, or Carson City, NV.



Key Responsibilities



  • Maintain HR records and ensure data integrity within the HRIS and payroll system.
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding pay, deductions, and tax withholdings.
  • Collaborate with Payroll to reconcile payroll data and resolve discrepancies.
  • Ensure compliance with wage and hour laws, tax regulations, and company policies.
  • Support audits and reporting requirements related to payroll and compensation.
  • Identify opportunities for payroll process improvements and automation.
  • Stay current on payroll regulations and best practices.



Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Accounting, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in payroll processing or HR operations with payroll responsibilities.
  • Proficiency in payroll systems and HRIS platforms (e.g., Dayforce, Workday, Oracle).
  • Strong understanding of payroll regulations and tax compliance.
  • High attention to detail and confidentiality.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.



Preferred Skills



  • Experience with multi-state payroll processing.
  • Familiarity with payroll reporting and analytics.
  • Knowledge of FLSA, IRS regulations, and state-specific labor laws.
  • CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) certification is a plus.
