The Enterprise Information Security (EIS) team is responsible for cybersecurity across our organization. We support our business and members by reducing risk, rapidly responding to threats, focusing on business resiliency and securing new acquisitions.

UnitedHealth Group's (UHG) Enterprise Security & Resilience Office (ESRO) is seeking a senior level Communications & Reporting Specialist to drive its communications and reporting strategy and help strengthen the security brand across the enterprise. This role is responsible for producing clear, accurate, and timely security-related communications and reports for ESRO, its strategic partners, UHG executive leaders, and the UHG Board of Directors. This role is also responsible for creating and maintaining a common communications management process across ESRO that standardizes messaging and reporting related to crisis and incident communications, security directives, and organizational information for a wide range of audiences. This role will support security operations by transforming incident data, intelligence, strategy, and operational updates into actionable reports, briefings, and written communications that inform leadership, employees, and partners.

The ESRO Communications & Reporting Specialist will work within the ESRO Strategy and Operations Team and partner with ESRO's senior leadership to create communications and briefings, and bring their deep expertise and passion to further the security mission. The ideal candidate has extensive experience in communications, marketing, and/or consulting, reporting and presentation creation, and is adept at developing and influencing cross-functional partnerships. Familiarity with cybersecurity, physical security, risk management, and/or regulated industries such as healthcare is also desired.

You'll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage compass communication review and approval processes, ensuring messaging aligns with UHG & ESRO's Communications Strategy and supports security objectives
  • Drives progress against ESRO's Communications Strategy and captures / implements improvement opportunities as the strategy matures
  • Create and manage the ESRO Communications standard operating procedure, templates, approval processes, and content distribution
  • Draft and edit materials for a variety of audiences on technical and non-technical security and organizational topics
  • Ensure consistency in messaging across various communication channels and for varying audiences, ranging from individual contributors to senior leaders and board members
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to translate complex technical concepts into easy-to-understand communications and materials
  • Develop charts, graphics, newsletters, and other materials to help drive security objectives and organizational goals
  • Maintain reporting and communication rhythms to meet due dates and messaging timelines for projects, programs, objectives, and internal/external reporting obligations
  • Prepare executive level briefings, dashboards, and presentations related to security initiatives
  • Serves as the primary communications liaison within ESRO, corporate communications, legal, and HR
  • Design and maintain reporting frameworks, templates, and standards to ensure consistency, accuracy, and clarity across all security communications and reports

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in communications, marketing, or consulting
  • Experience with driving communication strategies and messaging for senior executives
  • Proven solid writing and editing skills with a proven ability to simplify technical information for non-technical audiences
  • Solid PowerPoint, Excel, or other graphic design tools and experience in leveraging these skills to create charts with visual impact and effective storytelling
  • Proven solid critical thinking, decision-making, and tactical execution skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with communications for a cyber function in a large global company to include supporting crisis or incident communications
  • Consulting experience in the cyber domain
  • Technical writing experience

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). No matter where or when you begin a career with us, you'll find a far-reaching choice of benefits and incentives. The salary for this role will range from $112,700 to $193,200 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
